Reading, Coventry eye Arsenal star

July 6, 2005

A number of Coca-Cola Championship sides are believed to be in the hunt for the permanent signature of Arsenal’s former Republic of Ireland under-21 star Graham Stack.

Stack spent last season on loan at Millwall, impressing at the New Den before off-field events intervened – he appeared before the Old Bailey and Bromley Magistrates Court charged with rape.

He returned to Arsenal at the end of the season but despite the departure of Stuart Taylor for Aston Villa – which theoretically leaves Stack as third in line behind Jens Lehmann and Manuel Almunia – the 23-year-old is said to be keen to quit Highbury.

Reading and Coventry City are both keen to sign the keeper, according to reports, while Millwall could also be tempted to bring him back to south London on a permanent basis.
