Ipswich make Clarke move – report

Ipswich Town have initiated a move for Stoke City captain Clive Clarke, according to a Wednesday morning newspaper report.
Clarke was linked with moves to Burnley and Sheffield United earlier in the summer but, according to a report in the Irish Sun, the Tractor Boys have stepped in with a formal offer.
The 25-year-old’s contract at the Britannia Stadium expires next summer and as such he would be able to move for nothing in 12 months time.
So Stoke could be tempted to cash in on the Wicklow native while they still can this summer.
Clarke made his Irish debut in the Unity Cup 12 months ago, but has been unable to add to his tally of senior caps as John O’Shea, Ian Harte and Alan Maybury are all ahead of him in the pecking-order for a left back slot.
