YES also mentioned on 2FM so it must be true

could be a back door into europe for Cork City/ UCD/Bray or Derry
last game against Derry could be a decider after all

Finally - a decision. St Patrick's Athletic have been deducted 15 points and fined €1270 for playing Livingstone Mbabazi illegally for five games at the start of the season.

A long-awaited statment from eircom League Comissioner Roy Dooney detailed the investigation into the affair by Michael Hyland, Declan O Luanaign and Donal Cowther.

The conclusions were as follows and are taken from a long and detailed statement from Dooney.

St Patrick's Athletic FC in registering the player Chalres Mbabazi Livingstone, for the season 2001/02 only on the 12/09/01 while having played that player in the following games....(v Galway, Shebourne, Derry City, UCD, Cork City) clearly breached Rule 16(a)

The officiers of the eircom League have requested the Board of Control to immediately organise an investigation of all player registrations for the current season and where it is found that any player who has played in any eircom League match, in violation of Rule 16(a) then the rules in full shall be applied accordingly. :D

If they will lose more points for Marney now or do you just lose three points per game if you field any number of dodgey players in a game?

Even docking them 15 points is too bloody lenient. The book should be thrown at the cheating scum. IMO they should be relegated AND given a massive fine. The Marney affair was farcical, but this is downright absurd. They dont deserve to be called a professional club. And i hope they appeal the decision again, and lose, so they will be out of pocket as well.

And to think many (incl. myself) thought that Pat Dolan and St Pats were great for the eL.

They have brought more shame upon our League.

It's not their fault that dooney didn't tell anyone, is it?! They should have been deducted the required number of points hwen it happened as the rules state- Dooney's c0ckup and another indictment of the FAI's pathetic efforts at "running" this league.

Much as I hate to say this the fact Dooney knew about this before but never reported to the league but is fining Pats for now could mean the end of his reign. Can he continue now?
