Not really the width of a cigarette paper between these two combative sides and a draw a fair result. This undoubtedly suited Peamount more as it’s likely that Wexford needed a win to give them a chance of the securing the league title. With Kylie Murphy suspended and Aisling Frawley gone abroad, Wexford started with Kiev, Lolly, Lauren, Nicola, Lynn, Della, Aoibheann, Edel, Rossi, Teegan Lynch (making her first start) and Ellen. Wexford started reasonably well although Peas had probably the first effort on goal after four minutes but Kiev Gray grabbed it comfortably in the Wexford goal. Wexford conceded a poor goal a minute later when Kiev Gray dropped a difficult cross and two Wexford defenders couldn’t prevent Alannah McEvoy stabbing it home although the Wexford defenders looked to have got to the ball first. Wexford played well at various stages after the concession of the goal until half-time with Ellen Molloy trying a few long-range efforts and working hard to get as much space as she could against a truly difficult opponent in Peamount’s Karen Duggan. On 29 minutes, Wexford’s Teegan Lynch lifted the ball over Reid Burke in the Peas goal which was cleared off the Peas goal-line and claims for a Wexford peno were not heeded by the referee. Four minutes later, Wexford did get their peno when Rossi was put through on the Peas goal, Reid Burke saved the shot but then appeared to prevent Rossi from getting to the rebound. Aoibheann Clancy tucked it away in the corner and it was 1-1. Peas came more into the game after the Wexford equaliser and had a header just wide of the Wexford post. 1-1 at half-time.
