With at least a couple more weeks of European games ahead of Rovers beating Pats would give us a 3 point cushion with a game in hand so a win would be a huge boost. Rovers are looking better again with a few bodies back + Towell so here's hoping.
Sligo Dundalk on Monday will be an interesting one with both teams going the opposite way form wise. Sligo badly need a win or they could start to drift, on the other hand a win for DFC and they are right in the mix for a European place again.
Bohs away to Harps should be a tricky game but Harps seem to be in a terrible place form wise

Here we are on Thursday not knowing if we play on Monday. Not ideal but hey ho. Also we don't know how many people we can admit.. we saw tweets saying we were authorized to admit 800 on Friday but were never actually told this by FAI or government. Totally unclear whether the same limit would apply on Monday. But sure it's grand. We will work out I guess. All perfectly satisfactory.

Its completely daft and unfair, better to just postpone rather than the ifs and buts. There could be a silver lining for Harps, they dont look like playing back in to some form so an unscheduled break could work in favour. Injuries closer to being cleared up and a chance to get a load of work done on the training ground, chance to reset the mindset thats creeped in?

Sligo v Dundalk will be a significant benchmark on where Dundalk's improvement is at. At this stage every game is more or less a must win but I think this could be a real confidence booster in what VP has been doing with the squad. Likewise Sligo need to get back on track so will be an interesting one. Rovers v Pats is a key moment in the season as sbgawa has mentioned, more for Pats as it would be a real boost to their belief that they will be in the mix at season end. Rovers will be, but ye dont want it to be at a canter. Balancing European commitments with a title challenge always will test a squad and this time of the year can make or break a season too - you'd have to think that Pats have to capitalise and keep the pressure on. If Waterford win they will be confident of getting out of trouble, no easy game v Drogheda, but the sort of game they need to win (will help Dundalk). I hope Longford can take points of Derry too but not likely unless the new manager bounce is over for Higgins.

The Rovers fans podcast TFTES were saying that the Galway attendance was reduced from 1500 to 500 as the game was given approval for the Sunday at 1500 but when it was moved to Friday it was reduced to 500. Seems daft but they normally know what they are talking about.

That seems to indicate August may have new guidelines. I think we will see attendances increase fairly soon.

Treaty win 4 -1 away in Athlone & played well. Some lovely goals and Athlone scored a nice one also.

Wexford are becoming a decent team but thankfully Galway Utd played very well and won 1-3. That's the first goal we conceded in the league for four games. Shelbourne are having a bit of a wobble, losing to UCD in the Cup last week and drawing at home to Cobh tonight. They're still nine points ahead of Utd and Treaty but they still have to play both teams and they haven't beaten Treaty yet this year. Hopefully we beat them on Friday week in Terryland and they crumble

Rovers started poorly but 1st piece of quality we carved pats open. Great finish by Danny.
If Pat's being 2nd shows the quality of the league, you'd have to question the quality.
Sligo, boez and dundalk are significantly better than them, in my view.
It's just none of them are as good as Rovers.
Could have finished 6 or 7 - 1 at the end.
Onto the Europa Conference 3rd round.

Ref was very poor almost managed to keep Pats in it.
Numerous soft frees for Pats.

Ref was ****e for both sides really. He would constantly give us soft frees but never allow the advantage to be played, even in cases where we had played the ball in behind the defence. Just became funny after a while.

Disappointing from us. Thought we started alright but from around the half hour mark on, particularly in the second half, Rovers had it far too comfortable. We needed an actual striker on but almost as soon as we made that change Rovers scored the second and then it become a real uphill struggle. We've generally bounced back well from such performances this season so hopefully that happens next week with some players returning as well.

That substitution backfired on SOD. Paddy Barrett came off for Coughlan and Rovers almost immediately scored with a header from a corner.

Tomney was beyond a disgrace last night. Also, that little anti-vaxx pox Ronan Coughlan is the most hateable player in the league. Literally spends more time on the ground than on his feet.

Rovers were the much better side, but O'Donnell made a huge mistake changing shape when he did. Barrett had barely left the pitch and they concede from a corner. Rovers always looked like scoring but maybe Pat's could have held out if they dug in.

Kerr is retired for everything except media work afaik. It’s been years since his last role in club football.
