Decent effort but narrow defeat for Wexford this evening in Ferrycarrig as they never really looked like equalizing after Wexford got an early goal but then conceded two themselves. Wexford started with Jimmy, Paul, James, Jack C, Conor, Karl M, Jack D, Kevin, Charlie, Kyle and Lorcan. Wexford got the tonic of an early goal with their first attack when Conor Crowley’s ball over the top put Kyle Robinson in the clear and his first-time volley flew past Ryan in the Treaty goal for 1-0 to Wexford after three minutes. Major difference between the two sides was Treaty’s more direct play and threat from set-pieces with great delivery by Ludden. It led to Treaty bringing the game back to 1-1 on ten minutes when a ball threaded back into Wexford’s area after a partial clearance allowed O’Donnell to bury a free header in front of Jimmy Corcoran in the Wexford goal. Just after the quarter hour mark, Wexford’s Paul Cleary headed narrowly wide after a good Wexford move and that was about as good as it got for the home side. On 20 minutes, Treaty went ahead when the ball bounced around the Wexford area and Lynch prodded home for Treaty to make it 2-1 for the away side. Treaty largely dominated the rest of the half and hit the outside of the Wexford post from another set-piece when it looked easier to score to leave it 2-1 to Treaty at half-time. Seven minutes before the break, Jack Larkin had come on for Wexford in place of Charlie Smith who limped off.
