Eric does a lot of training and coaching juniors in Galway as he still lives here so I wouldn't read to much into it until it is formally announced by GUFC on our own website.

there was a small rumour, probably all rubbish that we in athlone were looking for him, we need a striker of his quality, but there is no chance of that happening, one of my mates was playing for longford when he was up there and said he was the best striker he has played along side

Wherever Eric does end up it won't be to far away from Galway as he has a very close relationship with his son and wont want to be too far from him.

and if Eric is signed he will be available for saturday. Id say with the players we have/are signing we may need about 2 more players max.

Eric Lavine will join Galway United when the transfer window opens. He will not be eligible to play against Kildare, but will be available to make his debut against Limerick FC in Terryland on Friday 8th July (KO 7.30PM).

All domestic transfers require two days clearance.

United will have money to buy and keep players if our supporters and the Galway public get behind our three upcoming fundraisers :

Coventry City friendly
Lark in the Park
The Famous Fives

These three events can bring in a six-figure sum for the club, but only with your help. A meeting will be held in Drum next Tuesday night, 5th July, at 8.00pm.

Anyone who can help in any way is asked to attend.

PD.

Sure he can take him with him. We've a great youth setup.

I heard he was going to Sligo.

If that's a five a side tournament, I'm sure Lavine will give it his full support.... ;)

If Lavine does join us again he will have to earn his place in the squad.

With Goldbey, O'Dowd and Moran all playing well and also the arrival
of Mernagh, competition for the starting places upfront will be strong.

He's not good enough to train with the reserves!

I'd say it won't be long before Lavine is in the starting line-up.

1. Because he's better than O'Dowd and Goldbey
2. He has more experience than Mernagh
3. Moran can learn from him
4. He'll get goals
5. He'll draw the crowds

Doubt he'll start against Limerick but don't think we'll have to wait too long.

Also, on Michael Lindsay, is he actually that bad? Didn't he make the squad recently? And play at a semi-decent level over in England?

Mixed reactions on this guy, some say good some say bad. He has 1 goal from 2/3 games so far to his name for the reserves which can only help his confidence. He played for a club called HISTON in england, which got promoted to the conference this year so actually this league would probably be a step up. Have met him once, nice guy, very tall so I would say give him a chance to find his feet in the reserves and we might see him at some stage next season, once hes still around.

I heard he signed on a pay as you play contract with Goal Bonuses.Good contract allows no room for messing.
