What planet are you on?? Yelvie was and still is a very popular player in Cobh, I would be thrilled if he was back. If he was unpopular then how come he got a very good reception in Cobh last week?

ah listen to me now 4 eyes,im getting sick of you!

booed onto the pitch some reception that was!

Dublin City, according to their forum. Though how they can come close to matching the money he's on at Waterford :)
Probably very easily, he doesn't get that much. Wouldn't be one of the higher paid players.

Yeah not loseing McCourt to a British side would be a boost to the league though I'd be suprised if it happened. If he's interested in staying in the league Shels should dump Ryan and Baker and use all the money they have to try and get him imo.

And then McCourt would do his cruciate or something like that and ye'd be in a right 'ol spot of trouble on the right!

Not really, we'd be back to the same players that won us the league last year. We've plenty of cover.

you're having a laugh right. Doyle's not a pro at waterford, he's got a job like nearly the whole team, he's probably gets paid an average amount. Who are these 3 pro's you speak of???

No, nor Finn. I think Mahon was annoyed at them when they left. Also we have plenty of strikers.

He's on 400 or 500 a week, from what I hear.

He's not full-time though, as far as I know. Of the three players who left is last season, Pat Sullivan was the only one who left because he wanted to try full-time football. The other two left because Waterford waved silly cash at them.

why did waterford wave silly cash at doyle and then not play him though?

Want to ask Waterford that, not me! That's another reason why more should be done about clubs going belly-up like this - they're effectively robbing our player on promises of more money which they can't possibly pay. It's ridiculous.

With his striking rate this year (and second half of last year), I'd hope not. I'd have Finn back in a heartbeat though.

In his last 13 games last year, he played the equivalent of 7 1/2 full games and didn't score. This year he's played in 12 games (starting 8) and has played the equivalent of 7 full games and has scored once. Neither is a great scoring rate.

We have Robbie Martin, Damien Dupuy, Paul Byrne, Conor Sammon, Paul Whitmarsh, Podge McWalter, John Brophy and Adrian Murphy already. Don't think Doyle would get his game ahead of half of them (they're not setting the league alight, granted, but he still wouldn't get in ahead of them). No point signing him really. Finn I would take back though.

I pretty much agree with all that. But didn't Mahon blast Finn as well as Doyle when they left so isn't there no chance of a return?

Drogs looking at Glen Fitzpatrick is another rumour. Don't know if there's anything in it.

Don't remember to be honest. A bit harsh if he did, Finn played last season as an amateur with us!

Speaking of Drogs and striker targets, does anyone know the latest with Gary Hamilton? Last I heard he had all but signed but it seems to have gone a bit quiet on that front.

EnDai

Cancelled. Ports wanted 60K, Drogs would only go up to 20K.

Slash/ED
01/07/2005, 3:26 PM
I missed that, that's a blow for Drogheda. They need a striker badly more than any other position imo and he fit the bill.

EnDai
01/07/2005, 3:29 PM
Aye, I said it earlier somewhere about imagining if they got Hamilton and Fitzer, the goals would be flying in, Fitzer'd create about 20 chances a game for Hamilton!

Slash/ED
01/07/2005, 3:38 PM
Yeah they'd be absolutley lethal together, while Fitzpatrick on his own will be a good signing, they need an out and out goal scorer beside him which they haven't really got atm.
