Wexford continued their impressive form of late with a comprehensive win against a hard-working Bohemians side in good conditions in Ferrycarrig this evening. Wexford started with Maeve, Nicola, Lauren D, Edel, Lynn, Lynn Marie, Ellen, Aoibheann, Kylie, Ciara and with Aisling Frawley up front. Wexford took control right from the start and Wexford’s Ellen Molloy had a volley in the first minute which went just wide. On ten minutes, Ellen Molloy had another chance close in but Coombes in the Bohs goal was able to smother the effort. The first goal came to Wexford on the quarter hour mark and a quality goal it was as Ciara Rossiter who had the freedom of the left wing all evening, powered in a cross where Kylie Murphy, arriving late into the Bohs area, smashed home a bullet header and it was 1-0. Wexford had an untidy spell after this and Bohs had their only real effort of the half with a free from just outside Wexford’s area, but Maeve Williams managed to get strong hands to push the free away and it remained 1-0. Just on the half-hour mark, Wexford went two ahead when Kylie Murphy was fouled inside the Bohs area and Kylie knocked the spotter past Coombes. A worry for Wexford a minute later was to see Ellen Molloy limping off to be replaced by Lauren Kelly but hopefully it’s only a bit of ankle bruising following a foul. With seven to go in the half, Aisling Frawley was fed a through ball and she knocked it past Coombes to make it 3-0 and it remained like that at half-time with Wexford largely untroubled.
