Can we have a poll as to how many people thought this was about Shamrock Rovers?! ;)

Sligo Rovers had a BIG win in Division 1 tonight - Carlos Alvarez (an exiled Bolivian revolutionary) scored a last minute winner against Cobh.
It looks like Dublin City have lost (not yet FT on Aertel so there could be a flurry of late goals!) at home to Limerick and had 2 sent off.

This puts Rovers 5 points clear at the top ahead of Cobh, Dublin City and Limerick all on 25! They've only lost once this season (can't remember who beat them) looks like they could be going up!

The team with the best away record in D1 beat them

That amazingly enough is Monaghan United.

who also notched another away win tonight against Kilkenny. If only we could win or draw more often at home we'd be right up there. Top four still very much on the cards.

:D

Ya but every and any team in the league can take points of each other. Sligo went through a bit of a spell were they couldn't score but they didn't loose they then lost tio monaghan who a couple of weeks later got hammered 5-0 by dundalk  .We are now on a good run and Dublin on a bad run.If we won two on the trot we would be right up there :) so it aint over by a long run yet ;)

Nice to see a Galway fan not afraid to give Rovers a bit of recognition.

Yes, we are going well at the moment, just one defeat, to a terrible team that is Monaghan United(revenge next Sunday though). We have a great squad this season and morale in the dressing room must be high. Five points clear at the top so early on, and it looks like Dublin are starting their poor spell now. We have had ours and hopefully wont have another. Second round of matches nearly over, three games left- Monaghan, Athlone and Kilkenny. So fingers crossed we will be there at the end of the season. TOP OF THE LEAGUE, WE'RE HAVING A LAUGH! :D

I will be delighted to see Sligo back in the top flight and i think most top flight fans will agree as it's a great trip to a decent stadium with usually a decent atmosphere and if youse get that sorted soon it will make it better.

I don't wanna sound big headed here but i'm sure most el supporters would like to see us getting promoted instead of CHF :D

Definately, they contribute nothing to the league

I have always said that ...why Seery didn't invest in one of the existing clubs i'll never know. To be fair .... they dont offer a thing to the league.

No offence to any HF but I would much prefer a team from wexford or kerry instead HF...
And i think everyone else would agree with me on that! (excluding HF)

21 games left....god its going to be a long 5 months.....come on the bitored....back to where we belong hopefully...

ps...if it shows a rovers player on eircom league weekly called steve feeney missing an open goal from 3 yards

1]he did it on purpose,he was offside

2] he was deadly yesterday, dont judge him on that

21 games left

Sums it for me, a long way to go. Thankfully, who' goes up is decided on merit(when they win more games than the other teams ;) ), not by disgruntled eircom league fans. :p

disgruntled eircom league fans.

For the record ...... i am not disgruntled in the slightest. I just dont think DC improve the league, i think it was small minded of Seery, why didn't he invest in Rovers when, at that time the money would have be really helpful and helped double the value of the investment ?? ..... was that ever even considered ??

the first div defo wasn't decided on merit 2 years ago. we're only gonna get better too. watch out for conall murtagh. if we fu*k up i can only see limerick winning it(i can't see them losing many games). dublin city r gettin exposed finally&i don't think cobh have da balls for it

Don't rule us out yet, trust me were playing decent stuff at the moment. ;)

How would it have doubled the value of his investment? Rovers are €2.5 million in debt. Anyone who goes in Irish soccer to double their investment , needs their head examined. Even the biggest clubs like Cork or Shels can't make money.

I'm feeling a lot of love for us on this thread :p

Yet again another topic started about some other team ends in the "Dublin City are a joke" routine. Change the record.

It's a long way to go yet, we are in the middle of a blip in our quest for promotion, will get back to winning ways as we have "bouncebackability".

As for the few Shamrock Rovers fans joining in the abuse, you lot have "bouncecheckability". :p

Good to see Sligo doing well, had a good laugh on the trip down there last year. Hopefully they'll come up.

dont wanna get into slagging dublin city though its an easy target and most of their fans on here seem sound.

All our players have been paid on time every week since the examinership started. Dont believe me? Ask them. Our fans are paying their wages. If your fans were to pay your wages you'd be better off playing ball in East Timor!

Agree about sligo being a more useful addition than CHF.

Maybe we could both go up! The best team will win & will deserve to go up.
