Despite everything that has happened between Bohs and Shels,they are an Irish side and i couldn't understand the logic of not supporting them.If it was Rovers,Pats or even the langers i'd still support them.

Now C'mon Bohs,if Foley pulls his head out of his ars* for long enough i think he'll get an equaliser(on aggregate)

IMO Poor result by Bohs.

Gent are not great team. Gent were no better or worse than teams faced by eL sides in recent years.

Bohs needed to win by more than 1 goal 1st leg.

They didn't push through to chase a second goal at Dalyer, which unfortunately leads to this :( They were the better side at home, if they kept on going for it the 2-0 would have been closer than the 1-1.

Yeah the home leg cost them, they should have pushed forward more then.

Was today a case of Bohs getting a goal then going all out for another and being unlucky or was the goal simply against the run of play in a fairly easy win for Gent I wonder?

Too bad for Bohs, if they'd have pushed through the second round was a reasonable one as well (Czech or Belaruse club) and the third round meant a clash with Valencia. Imagine how many euro Bohs could have gotten from ticketsales and TV if they'd have played Valencia... And it would be great for Irish football, I bet many football fans that don't follow the EL may have turned up at Dalymount if a local side plays a giant like Valencia.

I know that, but I think in Belgium, Gent scored inside the first minute and were 2-0 up after ten minutes as well.

General consensus between us all there was that there was something in the area of about 400 Bohs fans at the game.

Three big big defensive errors for the goals - the first one conceded after about 30 seconds really knocked the stuffing out of the team.

When we finally did decide to play (for about the last 20 minutes of the second half) - we dominated - as we did for big periods of the first leg.

Stonewall penalty not given when the Herpoel (the Gent keeper) took Grant out of it off the ball.

Missed an open goal from 6 yards three minutes from time (if anyone had got anything on it - it would have gone in - and we would have progressed).

Unlucky to lose out in the end - but a good time was had by all.

To all the decent fans on here (Shels, Athlone, Pats, Galway, Cork, etc.) who were cheering for us over both games - fair play - thanks for the support - which will be reciprocated in kind.

On the other hand - to all the Rovers fans on here having a go at us and sticking the boot in (who'd have thought eh, Rovers fans sticking the boot into someone) - enjoy your BIG overnighter away trip to Bray - bunch of minnows.

Just three defensive howlers and a goalkeeper saving a soft one on the line that if anyone had have got anything onto it would have gone in and we would have progressed on away goals.

Yeah - I'll do that - I'm off to that part of Spain for a week in September anyway.

In fairness, I don't see how losing to Gent - a team from the tenth-ranked league in Europe compared to our 42nd ranking - is a disgrace!

I'm disapointed that Bohs didn't get through, but they didn't disgrace the eL by any means. Obviously the Intertoto doesn't earn any co-efficient points, but Bohs did win a game (and it could have been a lot handier than 1-0).

In the CL and UEFA Cup, the eL teams need to win games, rather than scrape by with draws. Even one win in Europe is better than two draws and going through on the away goals rule (3 pts vs 2).

Have to agree, losing to Ghent isn't disgraceful. Unlucky not to win by more than the single goal at home, managed to score away, and if it wasn't for some "dodgy" defending they could have progressed comfortably. Disappointing but not disgraceful.
