Have you settled on them being called 'cups then? Not a bad haul having 2 cups only 2 games in to the season in fairness!

It's both a cup and a trophy. Yeah absolutely I couldn't agree more - get FG locked in to a long-term deal to prevent him being poached in the summer by Samba Soccer!

Lets agree we are unbeaten in the last two matches over 90 minutes :)
Mind you Pats have a 100% record against us this season over 87 minutes

Here tread carefully with Drogheda United fans, they'd be devastated with this as would their trophy haul!

Off topic, but on this weekends games, we've had a great start, two from two in games I'd have been happy with a point in either, but again, going into this one, I'd happily settle for a point in a ground that's not been too kind to us over the past decade.

Do try stay on topic....

Harps have looked really good in the opening games so based on that and other results so far I'll go with 4-0 to the Drogs

When Harps win the league they'll need to know what sort of space to make space in the 'trophy' cabinet at the start of 2022!

This is an under the radar huge game imo. (Drogs HArps)
If Harps could win it 9 points from 9 is an unbelievable start , obviously 9 points wont keep you up but a start like that would have you looking up not down for sure.

We'll need to make space on the little coffee table in Finn Park that currently holds the trophies.

This is exactly the time Harps let you down...The bit of expectation has made me convinced we will definitely lose on Saturday. Been supporting Harps long enough to know how it works!

Never knew we had upgraded from the top of the filing cabinet(yes we are all saying those last 6 words in the style of the famous Donegal Catch ad)

Watched first half of Longford vs Sligo —— seriously poor game neither side taking control and very scrappy.

The early game was a scrappy affair from the portions I saw. So far it’s Rovers with most of the possession but Dundalk had a good chance against the run of play.

I’d a feeling Athlone would win this but I thought 1-0 lol.

The leeway Dundalk get with persistent tactical fouling is just beyond a joke at this point. Chris Shields must be the league's all time fouls record holder by a country mile.

Wasn't a great game alright. Sligo edged it overall but we were competitive again which is pleasing. Couple of good performances on our side from Paddy Kirk and Aaron O'Driscoll.

Hopefully means our 2-2 draw last week was a decent result.

Though you could see Athlone were much improved and probably should won on balance rather than equalising with the last kick.

Going to be a very open First Division.

How come Stevie O’D and Mathews at the game?....meanwhile Mike Newell gets 3 game ban for calling Graham Kelly a baldy git or something stronger... which is a fair and accurate comment...

Cork losing at Cabo.

Geez some difference between the performance of the two keepers Rovers vs Dundalk. The 2nd goal was a shocker!

Manus is the difference for Rovers.Outstanding.
Dundalk should have been 2-1 up before Watts scored.

Yep I sponsored Meaney last year at Drogs and was disappointed he didn’t get more starts as he is a great player - not surprised at all to see him getting goals at Athlone.

Rovers made it harder then it needed to be, deserved to win but need to improve in the final third, to many chances being missed

He looks extemely poor. Howler last week thankfully. Should have easily saved Shams second. Even the first viewed from a certain angle doesn't look like he made much effort to get to it. I'd give him the benefit of that one. Sharp contrast to Mannus in the other end despite his age proving to be by far the best keeper in the League. He's irreplaceable to Rovers atm

I think Dundalk aren’t what they were but still a decent side in this years league. They will have to sort out the management situation. I can’t see the current set up working out.

Rovers 2nd game of the season and christ did it show. Great goal by Danny, but Rovers looked lethargic in the 2nd half and invited pressure on themselves. We'll need to improve significantly, as we won't be facing cretins in the opposition goal every week.
A lot to work on, for sure.

Strange game, rovers seemed comfortable throughout the game but Dundalk definitely had the better chances. I think if you swap the 2 goalkeepers you could have potentially flipped the result.

Longford looked unlucky to be beaten based on the highlights

Agree a lot for Rovers to on but we’ll improve - plus missing Pico & O’Brien left us exposed at the back but overall we were way better than Duns whose main tactic appears to be to kick the **** out of Burke and for (Shields particularity)to fall over at slightest touch; Duns are a shadow of what they were ; is it now 12 points from last 12 games ?

Hopefully injury to Gartland not too serious and he recovers.

Yeah Pico is a big miss, plus Joey but its almost a positive now , they are rested and ready for next week and we have the 3 points.
Lot of games this month

Don’t think either of those teams looked great tonight and if I was to make a judgement based on the one game I have seen them in (and I will as I love a rash call) they are both much poorer versions of themselves than in any of the recent years.

There may just be a sniff of a chance for a team from the pack to have a go this year.

It will come down to squads, in my view. dundalk & Rovers have squads that will cope with 40+ games this season, but I'm not sure either pats or sligo do. And I wouldn't see anyone else challenging.

That was a nervy one in the end. I thought we still look a bit rudderless but hopefully gametime will fix that. We gave up too many chances and Dundalk should have taken at least one of them. Cheers to Mr Abibi for the winner.

Ye look a pretty decent side, not the relegation fodder that newly promoted Longford teams have been in the past,

It's far too early to pass any definitive judgements obviously but are any of the Dundalk lads willing to acknowledge some early trepidation at the keeper so far? The murmurings of an international call up seem quite fantastical based on the last couple of games.

Obviously it's easy to say things with hindsight but it seemed a weird signing from the outset.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Dundalk fan who is happy with him. I was one who thought he deserved a chance but it's hard to back him after the last 2 games. His mistakes have cost us points in both. There are more issues than the keeper but mistakes in this position are usually fatal.

We weren't great last night but neither were Rovers, the difference was they have a top keeper.

It took Rovers time to get that position sorted and it cost them for years. We need to get it sorted quickly
