Wexford will be pleased with the level of performance but gutted with the result as they shaded a very tight and crucial game in Ferrycarrig this afternoon until the vital last five minutes. With Lynn-Marie Grant making her debut in midfield for the home side, Wexford started with Kiev, Nicola, Lauren, Lolly, Ciara, Aisling, Edel, Aoibheann, Lynn-Marie and with Ellen and Kylie playing the most forward for Wexford. The game didn’t produce many clear-cut chances with the defences of both sides tending to dominate. However, Wexford certainly played more of their football in their opponent’s half. Aine O’Gorman had a header at the far post over the bar for Peamount on three minutes. Then Aisling Frawley for Wexford had a shot saved by Reid-Burke (NRB) in the Peamount goal on seven. Wexford’s Aoibheann Clancy brushed the top of the Peamount netting from a free-kick just on the twenty minute mark. On 24 minutes, Aisling Frawley just couldn’t control the ball in front of the Peamount goal as Wexford continued to make progress. With ten minutes to go in the half, ‘Rossi’ Rossiter dragged a shot a yard wide on the stretch after a good Wexford move. A late yellow card for Stephanie Roche of Peamount finished the half as Wexford went in at the break happily enough at 0-0.
