Doubt it. The fcukers will fix it anyway to try and get one of the Dublin teams to win it

Just heard that we have Drogheda at home if we beat Galway.

This happened for the Second Round as well. Is it beyond the FAI to actually organise the draw and its announcement properly?! Nothing on the FAI website yet.

Best possible draw, I think!

Worst for Waterford, of course, especially in their predicament...

 :D

Good enough draw. It's at the X remember, a lot could depend on the outcome of the league match.

How do gate receipts break down in this competition?

I'm sure Waterford fans will be annoyed with the lack of a financial boost with the UCD draw. I'm pleased to get them. As good as we could have hoped for.

Btw the League Cup section on FAI.ie has not been updated since well before the format of the competition was finalised before the 1st round draw.

http://www.fai.ie/staticarticle.asp?hlid=242203

"eircom League Cup format for 2005

The competition will be played on a knock-out basis from start to finish with the Kerry League and Mayo League again receiving invitations to compete. The First Round will comprise 8 matches and 8 byes.

The four clubs in European competition (Shelbourne, Cork City, Bohemians and Longford Town) will receive byes due to their heavier fixture programme. The remaining 20 clubs will be divided into two pools of 10 clubs each on a geographical basis with four ties being drawn from each pool and with the remaining two clubs in each pool receiving a bye. Thereafter, the competition would continue on open draw knock-out basis."

I know it's not the most prestigous competition but FFS that's months out of date.

Yippee! We get 40% of the gate from a Monday night in Belfield. That should save the club. Thanks Milo and John Delaney for rigging the draw (not).

I assume no club was foolish enough to have budgeted for a League Cup quarter-final anyway, so it's effectively free money (before you take away travel costs of course...)
