Rovers depratures anticipated (http://www.eleven-a-side.com/premier/irish_soccer_detail.asp?newsid=17786)
I can't believe he'd get rid of Payne, Wolski or Philips. They're all good players. I don't know much about Lee Feeney but the other three are definitely up to the standard of the Premier. I hope they all stay here.
If Roddy wanted to save money for transfers maybe he shouldn't have so many professionals at the club....

Payne is already gone
Philips is not a "good" player. I was on the Ultras board telling them how poor a player he was when they signed him, and the Rovers fans seem to agree
Payne is crap.
afaik most of the Rovers squad, well the good players anyway, were signed on short term deals. Collins probably has no choice but let them go, and no money anyway...

After shooting down those two, what do yez think of Wolski?
I think he's a pretty good player. Strong, fast and a fierce striker of the ball.

payne, dropped and has gone back to the states coaching. no loss, but we will miss his wife :D
wolski is a kilmarnock player who was kinda on loan. will be missed, but we are well covered with defenders.
feeny is rumured to have skipped training on monday to concentrate on his hangover. recurring theme with his career. pity, but rod is under severe pressure and was going to take it out on someone.

not true, some have clauses so they can go if an english club comes in for them. gavin signed a long term deal recently. mccourt is really the only one we risk losing across the pond.
and money is ok this season (touch wood)
all players paid on time all the time (are you watching shels and waaaaerford...).

not surprising, after we beat you he was the scapegoat (even though all three goals were down to poor defending), Roddy and a few 'senior' players were given him unreal stick while the side warmed down. And all in front of the city fans, it was embarassing for the lad.

I heard QPR and Bristol City were mentioned in regards to McCourt. That's what happens when you have one of the best young players in the league. Hopefully yez can keep him til at least the end of the season. But if yez go down I don't see him staying.

Thought there was a few on short term contracts, but will accept I'm wrong.
No clubs have the money, and although youse are paying on time since examinership, that doesn't mean you're not paying too much. (Personally think every club is tbh).

Jesus, thats harsh! From what I'd seen he was no God, but he was good, but having muck supposedly helping to defend doesn't help. I hope as time goes on they realise how good he actually was for them, just for commupances sake!

Sure you know your stuff Macy? Seems to me a Rovers fan would no more bout their club then you.

fraid thats unlikely. against harps and pats he literally dropped the ball over the line right at the death. 4 points gone. ie half an fai meeting.
our defence is solid enough, and we stopped conceding at exactly the time rodney lost patience with russell.
all these saved wages should go to bringing in a much needed striker.
there are a handful of players on short term deals, but gain and mccourt were really the only two of significance and both appear to be going nowhere.
I agree Payne is crap, maybe Rovers regret dropping Noel Mooney last season now...?
Only saw Feeney when he came on as sub on tv first game of season in Dalymount & he looked handy...

Is he not still there? "Hi I'm Noel Mooney, Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper...." :D

Russel Payne made an awful gaffe against Pats. Though in hindsight if he didn't perhaps it would be 10 points deducted from Rovers. :D
Did anyone see Roddy's interview on eL Weekly a few weeks back? Possibly after the 0-0 draw at Belfield, he was fuming over his players saying about half the team will not be there to enjoy their Premier Division survival.

No he's not. He's numero uno at Limerick now. So unlike his former team mates he will be playing premier next season. :)

Barry Murphy has kept 4 clean sheets in 5 games since he replaced Payne. And he's local and he's cheap. That's the way forward. The same applies to Paul Malone and Benni. Good riddance to Wolski and Phillips.

Not the Roddy way though is it?
Isn't the Roddy way just the wrong way?
Yes, but faster! :D

I know, but someone should tell that hair transplant place that's using him for the ads... :)

Payne is muck and won't be missed, especially since I took a lifesize picture of his wife and stuck it onto this doll I bought in Amsterdam. Oh, I've said too much...

Did Feeney get much of a run out? He was a class act during his first spell with us but he came back from Rangers with his head right up his own hole.
Shocking talent gone to waste.

he did alright to be fair, but only alright. good touches, but never broke the 1st 11.
his social habits, were even by rovers standards, unacceptable.
but he scored against the filth, so he will never need to buy a beer again in hooped company.

Wolski is the only 1 that I think could have been a star here in EL, Mind you I only saw him play once (League Cup in a walk-over for Rovers) so I cant really talk.
With their current squad I'd still say that Rovers should stay up :(

Think Payne was dropped before the UCD game. Remember being very disappointed about that! Didn't really rate him during his time at Derry either (he made two howlers in our Cup quarter-final a few years back)
Wouldn't be sure about them staying up though, especially with the eight points gone. If Harps get into gear, Rovers could be in trouble.

Thanks to Friday night football the Fanad match was the first time this season Ive seen a match and I couldnt believe how bad Phillips was, maybe he is usually better but I doubt it, its not like he was just bad skillwise but he didnt seem to have the most basic grasp of tactics or common sense, youd see better in a primary school yard. Was shocked that he was allowed stay on the pitch for the whole game, should of been taken off well before half time and immediatly shown the door. It was easily the worse peformance of a player Ive seen either live or on TV in any league.

Lets be honest Phillips and Wolski were absolutely awful. Payne was one of the worst keepers I've ever seen. How did he get POTY at Derry???!!
Defo wont be missed. As for Feeney well he's got the talent but............he was bad last sunday though.
Wage bill which the fans are still paying will be lowered.

That's probably the best thing to come out of all this. I don't care what type of behaviour the fans get up to at the matches, away from the stadium they really are supporting the club in a positive way in every sense of the word.
