It's been confirmed that Walla (Abbey A manager last year) has stepped down due to not having enough of last years squad staying.
New man in charge is Tom Keogh (Abbey B manager last year), and ruomour has it that all he will be left with it is approx 10 B players to sign.
If this is the case then Abbey will be lucky to stay in Div 1A.

Abbeyvale. - If my memory is corrcect and I might be wrong on this. You probably know a bit more about Abbey than I do. When they got promoted last year the got rid of the Manager(dont know his name He is now with Geraldines I think)It seemed very tough on him as he had out most of that side together.
Its seems as if it is coming back to haunt them. Also as a club its a bad sign if is true so many players a leaving them after being relegated. You would think that they would give it another go and try to get back up. Its now that the club needs these players.
I suppose thats wishful thinking in this day and age. Players are moving around so much there is no such thing as being Loyal to a club.......

Twinke Toes,
Ger Ryan was the former Abbey manager who got shafted in place of a rookie who has now jumped ship. He is a very honirable and decent man (Ger Ryan) who in my company never once criticised Abbey for their actions. Players will come and players will go, Clubmen like him are irreplaceable.....they deserve all they are getting right now.
Are you a winger?

Excellent....20/21.... and i suppose there will be evening matchs as well then for a few weeks...
Any predictions on who will get promoted next year or will u have a look at a few teams before u have a guess???
Bonovox
16/07/2005, 7:03 AM
I'm sure there will be 2/3 weeks of midweeks games as per normal. Too early to predict who is going up. Corbally were most impressive in the second half of last season and could have made an impression in the Premier if Granville hadn't pipped them with their usual late run. It looks like they (Corbally) are going to lose a few players though and might not now be the force. Abbey will undoubtably struggle. At this stage, I will plump for 2 from Summerville, Star and Wembley......will give 2 definites before a ball is kicked in anger though....lets see how the various signings pan out first!

Thanks Bonovox. Could not remember his name. Have come across him(Ger Ryan) a few times on the playing field. Always thought he was a good one.
By the way what do you mean "am I a winger"

Hi twinkletoes......I am trying to determine from your name that you might play on the wing? I have never heard a centre half called twinkletoes :-)

Iarnrod Eireann won the other quarter final vs Elsevier in high contorversy. First of all, we(Elsevier) arrived at 6:45 for the 7pm kick off in cals park. Understandably nervous, considering we had a poor summer we were expecting a bit of a hiding. 7 o'clock came and passed with no sign of the oppostion. 7:15 came and passed without any sign of the opposition. Now in any junior fixuture i've ever been involved in, and thats alot, a walkover shouldve been awarded to us. But Pat O'brien thought differently. So at 7:30(still no sign of the opposition) we starting heading away, half of us togged out, when the boys finally show up. Pat O'Brien inssited we still had to play, but informed us that he had to be back to work and we better "make it quick". So the match was about to kick off at 7:35, when a loud bang was heard from the hyde road. again, the match was held up for another 15 mins as everyone ran out to see whose car had been broken into. With 1 min to go until full time the score was 1-1, when iarnrod Eireann hit the crossbar with a header, which bounced a full metre out from the line and was picked up by the keeper. Again, Pat O'Brien, (may have been drunk, i dont know) decided to apply his own logic to proceedings and award a goal. This was as much as we could take and we decided to call a halt to the entire shambles. Needless to say the ref was delighted and ran to his car to make it back to work asap. In the end this was only the straw that broke the donkeys back. With cars being broken into, gearbags been nicked, pitches with no nets, no lines, the lowest grade of "ref" possible, and some of the worst pitches around, it all begs the question...........is the whole thing being ran from the chimp enclosure at Dublin zoo???

Corbally Utd are the Limerick team to watch! A favourite for promotion with young qualitly players like Liam O Flynn,David Owens ,Ado Fitzsimon, Dee Ryan etc all of great potential!

Having seen them a few times last season I would have fancied them for promotion this season but I heard they had lost a couple to the Boro and one to Pike?
By the way, you'll win nothing in 1A with just young players! See how they'll get on outside in Croom!

Corbally may loose 2 or 3 players but have hung onto the cream of the crop. Players like Fitzsimons and Owens wudnt shy out of tough games and have been great in the eircom U 21 League. Too much quality for any division 1 side

They won't get out of 1a, they have some good players alright, but not enough for promotion.

We were still missing about 4-5 from our starting team but we did have the services of seanie caroll and danny colbert and also darren o sullivan(back from regional)..Twas a pretty good open game but there was some terrible refereeing..Not to sure what his name is but he definately is not a good referee,,well not good enough for top division football....Both teams had penalties on the night and both we were missed but we scored from the rebound...Granville played ok but i still think they were missing a few(well i hope they are or they will go through the premiere like us last year)
Yes the clubhouse is a great job. Will be even better when its finished...Still a bit to do yet but all in good time!!!
Still no sign of fixtures for the semi-finals of the joe mckeown (interfirm) in the paper tonight???

Lets talk about where all the action is going to be this season...Division 4B. Athlunkard Villa to do the double :D
I signed for them this season and all the lads are pretty confident so I'm expecting medals.
Plus keep an eye on Kilfinane Forest. They are stuck in 3A I think but have always had the potential to play at a higher level, the only problem is that they like their drink more than their football.

Ya, we only beat them 8-0 to win the league last year, good side alright.

1.They were drinking the night before, (if only they drank lucozade instead).
2. Only half the decent players showed up, the other half recovering from the night before.
and finally it just struck me why is it all the good players never bother turning up for matches except when they suit themselves and then you have the guy's with two left feet who are there regardless of rain, snow or earthquakes
Also me thinks Deckie Hide is a fan of the Forest :D

Dell have now won the "A" league 4 season's in a row and have now also won the cup 3 of the last 4 season's (only losing 1 of their finals v Chorus last year)

Thanks for your opinion daydreamer...Thats what this forum is for but i will say u will be eating your words come the end of the season..Yes we were brutal on sunday when we got HAMMERED by balla b(we didn't even lose by that amount against there A team). But we were 1-1 at half time and should have been ahead as we played the better football in the 1st half.We lost one of our best players in midfield then at half time and gave away an own goal then straight away and then we were brutal after that....The game against corbally was much improved even though corbally played the better football we still held out and got a point so we are improving..Just so u know as well we are missing 5 if not 6 staring players through injury and holidays so watch this space...Don't think we will be going down though!!!

I know it's early days yet, but I am trying to muster up a league table for Division 1A to date.
I have all last weekend's results, as well as last midweeks results, I also have
some of the first days results which are:
Abbey v Star (off)
Balla 5-1 S'Ville
Coonagh 3-1 Croom (Not 100% on this one)
Corbally 3-1 Dines
Can anyone confirm if I am missing any results from the first day of the season.
P.S (I am one of the many Ex Abbey players that has gone to Star, but I can't manage to change my Log in name, anyone know how??)
