How many countries are in the world," is a very good question and one that is somewhat difficult to answer, as there appears to be no one right answer.

Many sources offer different answers, and depending on the source, there are 189, 191, 192, 193 or 194 independent countries in the world today.

The United Nations has 191 members (including East Timor, the newest nation) but that number does not include the independent nations of the Vatican.

The US State Department recognizes 192 independent countries around the world. but that list of countries reflects the political agenda of the United States of America. As an example, it does not include Taiwan as China claims that Taiwan is simply a province of China.

So 194 Im guessing is the answer you're looking for.

Has anyone in your class ever called a teacher mum? :D

Wouldnt mind giving a young Audrey Hepbourne a go (when she was in her prime) more coz she looks like a classy lassy more than anything else.

When settlers came to Mongolia, or the Faroe Islands, or some God forsaken place like that, do you think that they took a good look around and said to themselves "You know, I can really see myself setteling down here and having a good life"? Surely it would have been a step down from where they came from :o

Luckily, I have never been to a funeral in my 14 and a half years so nothing has ever got too bad.

saddest moment would be when I was on my holidays in France about 6or7 years ago and as soon as I got back, we got a phone call to say that my granny had a terrible car crash and she was in a bad way in hospital. Luckily, she's still alive and back ok again :)
