View Full Version : Ever Been To Buckley Park

Just wondering if other club's supporters have ever travelled to Buckley Park in Kilkenny and got the same crap we got from their stewards last night.
Firstly, they kindly carried in our drums and flags and told us to go to the stand behind the goals. This we did but midway through the first half a steward comes up and explains that there were complaints about us making too much noise and asked if we could be a bit more quiet.
Naturally, we didn't listen and only sang and drummed a helluva lot louder and moments later he was back with a speil about either the drums went out or we went out. When I then pointed out that neither myself, Conor or the drums would be leaving before the match was over he proceeded to tell us that he'd gotten several complaints about the noise we were making.
Imagine, the audacity of us to make a noise at a football match :D

remember eddie gormley scoring a memorable one there :)
pitch is funny, seems very square, wide but short, stewards never seemed a problem...

Sorry about that Harpskid, I didn't make it to the match, but the stewards in Buckley Park need a bit of cop-on, (personally I like plenty of noise and chanting at football matches) your not the first club that have been told to shut up.
Just out of interest did the 'complaints' come from the old stand or the new stand?
I've been to kilkenny before alright - big gaa loving stewards the time i was there (though in fairness, got no grief from them

We (I know I know!) had the same last season - were approached before the game started and asked not to make too much noise with the bodhrán. The ground is three miles out the town, so it can't be because it's in a local estate. Load of nonsense really. No reasons offered either.
Haha, I've heard it all now - the 3 UCD away fans get told to be quiet  !!!
With that reputation now, I'll have to warn our stewards about ye for fridays match :D !

Hey, we had 20-odd for that game! A quarter of the crowd! :)
That stuff work out OK for the programme?
We were there this season with flags and drum
behind the goal and got no hassle at all from anyone!
There was only about 10 of us
Aye right, Harps Fans making noise. Next you'll be telling us you'll be in the Premier Divison next season

Thought it was a bit rough and heavy handed also, whats wrong trying to get a bit of atmosphere in a ground with none. Thank God it will be a long time till we play there again :p , it’s cat I tell you.

We got similar S**te on the first day of the season. Drum and airhorns had to go behind the goal...or else :o And while we're talking about them, they have without a doubt the WORST match programmes of all time, and the nerve to charge 3blips for them. On the opening day of the season there was no word from the new manager, supporters, player interviews, club info, visiting team info, player profiles/pictures...I mean you could at least make an effort if you're going to have the nerve to charge at the high-end of the scale for programmes.
Rant over.

Hey Harpskid, they don't know what an atmosphere is. We had 3 drums down there last season and banged and sang for the 90 mins, but nothing was said!!! Strange country people.
the nerve to charge 3blips for them.
You'll be pleased to know then that its gone down to €2 :p
