Not a good look for any business when it becomes public knowledge that you aren't paying your way.

Hopefully this won’t cause a reciprocal response from Eir who could now make EirSport and its LOI coverage unavailable to Virgin customers.

Eir are telling customers this morning "Virgin media has not agreed to updated terms and has taken the unreasonable step of unilaterally with holding their feed from Virgin Media sports viewers on the Eir network."
Whatever that means.

I read that as "we wanted to cut the fees, VM did not agree."

Exactly
Or, as we used to say
Fight, fight!
On a tangent - tv coverage - have many people subscribed to WatchLOI?
I'm planning to get it today and want to know if I'm wasting my money or not?

Well worth the money, it's not a TV broadcast obviously but it's the next best thing, there's been the odd glitch game to game but I've honestly been pleasantly surprised with it.

Yeah, I'd agree, I've watched a good few bits of games and full games. Decent quality and worth the price.

Well worth the price for the amount of games you get.
I've not watched many games though, only Dundalk's really. Bohs game was excellent, the Waterford game stopped a couple of times.
Next season I'd like a club pass to be available.

I only noticed last night when I saw on my sky package when I was going onto Virgin Sport channel and saw it was Eir sport two. I rebooted main box and still nothing happened. I spent 15 mins queuing on phone, hung up and was onto their FB messager service which was extremely busy. In the meantime I had texted my brother in law to see what was happening and he told me. I never heard a thing! When I did get thro into sky due to GDPR they couldnt tell me exact reason but to google it!
Not good at all tbh. Who was at fault most does anyone know?

Based on their statements, it looks like eir weren't willing to pay the existing price and changed the terms due to the lack of live sport and VM told them to F off and pulled their feed.

Bad day to sign up for it!
The Dundalk game worked fine thankfully, but they really need to pick their moments for replays better! In the middle of an attack isn't really the time to be messing about with that!
Also, they need to sort out substitutions. Camera never shows subs happening and no graphics to say who's on/off. The commentator doesn't even mention who went off. Happened with every sub in the games I've watched. Minor issue, should be easily fixed.

I noticed that too a couple of times. Showing replays when there was live action going on. Generally it's been good though. Picture has been fine. There is the Siobhan Madigan issue though !

Awful commentator , I know in this PC world a female commentator is required but she is god awful. The rest of the commentators are decent particularly Stephen Alkin.

Hugh Cahill seems to be doing Dundalk's games. He's a bit shouty, but appears to be the main man for RTÉ now between all sports (racing, rugby too).
Hard to find a good commentator. Des Curran was good on Bohs v Dundalk. Madigan and Ger Canning among the worst.

Con Murphy is excellent
Saw about 30min of Bray's game with UCD, The old Boy(Vinnie?) Was doing a good job on commentary.

She's tough to listen to. I realised after Pats Harps that she never says a sentence of more than 6/7 words. Once I realised this it makes it even worse!

Thought he was really monotone myself tbh; bit like the boring priest out of Father Ted droning on about the humming noises.
"The fourth official has indicated to us we will have five minutes of injury time. Five more minutes to play. We've played the 45 minutes, and there will be another five minutes. Five minutes for Bray to hang on"
But as effectively a community service, it was ok. I imagine commentary is actually kind of hard, so even if he's not going to trouble the pros, fair dues to him for doing it.

We've had Ger Canning for every Cork City game so far. Including on Friday when we had no footage. When City put up a stream on their facebook page you could hear Canning droning in the background. He consistently gets players names wrong and has about 3 different ways of saying Ochieng which he alternates through. Hoping for someone different for Fridays game in Derry.

Solo commentary is the toughest kind. You've no-one to play off against, to help keep the conversation flow going, or simply to give you a break from speaking.
When you bear that in mind, the commentators on WatchLOI are doing a decent job really.
So WatchLOI is working with minimal problems. Just tried to watch Soccer Republic -
https://www.rte.ie/player/series/soccer-republic/SI0000001582?epguid=IH000390835
Can't watch it live in the UK(we used to, anyone know why it changed?)
Jumps and cuts out, at the break stops altogether so have to forward a minute
So frustrating!

He's got a lovely voice but he's a GAA man, he even called the 6 yard box the rectangle during commentary as if he was expecting the lino to flag for a square ball 😂
As Cork Fans call him Ger F*****g Canning! His commentary of games relates to a hurling fixture rather than a soccer match with his description and remarks. It's like he is unable to relate to any other sport!
