Im absolutely shocked at dolans involvment in Doyles affairs. I have heard him(Dolan) on radio 1 i think it was the nite we won against Derry and he said he was talking to john o'flynn the nite before and now with the news that john gill is Georgies agent i gotta wonder how many more city players Dolan's in contact with.Would he just fcuk off.
It also makes me think all the 'passion' he had for City was acted out.I feel so let down by the langer.

Gill isn't georgie's agent, georgie was on redfm a while ago to say he's not. As for the rest of it, yeah I feel the same. Absolutely gutted and very very angry if this is all true

Yeah, I saw that. but george has denied it within the last hour. George said Gill is a close personal friend, but not his agent.

Why are you shocked?
I could have told you the night Dolan was sacked that Doyler would be gone before the season was out.

It's such a shame. It's such a shambles. Oh for the heady days of last season! :( :( :( :(

Theres a difference between Doyle leaving and our "biggest fan" who "loves Cork" helping him on his way.

Would you have helped Reading buy Kevin Doyle for €117,000? I know I wouldnt! that is why Dolan is our biggest Judas since Ollie Ca$hal

Yes them were the days when we couldn't beat Shels, had a bluffer as a manager and were not on top of the league.

Its so sad to see people defend Dolan no matter what he does. Colm, can you not see the hypocracy of Dolan bitchin' & moaning about the evils of English football & helping the eLs greatest talent to leave for the Championship?

Dolans sacking as absolutely nothing to do with this!

If this was an inter-english club transfer I think reading would have been investigated for tapping up Doyler.

Before this I was slightly amused by Dolan hanbging around City but now I hate him!

slander is define as anything you know not to be true or dont believe to be true .
slander is a very hard accusation to prove.
i for one believe that pat dolan tapped up kevin doyle for reading.
and i believe it was pat who informed them of the clause n kevs contract and shane long.

Here. Here. Agree with ya totally. I thought Dolan WAS a good manager and was a bit sad too see him go but knew he had too go as it was in the best interest for the club. Can't believe this has all happened and so quickly. Dolan if he knows what's good for him should get out of Cork quickly because there will def be more anger City fans after this. So now is the time for us all too realise what Dolan IS like and get behind the team and management. We need a big crowd Monday to show our support and to wish Doyle and Long well in what ever they want to do.

looks like it all came out.......
i said on these pages for months and months, that dolan had a hidden agenda,(ie running cork into the ground, then trying to buy them out)just like he did at pats......but ye lot had dolan as this wonder figure in cork football...he was out 4 him and his pocket.

fair play he did bring some good players to city(doyler, kearney, murphy, and to an extent coughlan.).but wit the squad he had,i think it was 38 at one stage at at least E200 a man is at least e4,400 a week on surplus players(excluding starting 11 and subs).

but i think the man had the whole city under his spell.but in all honestly would any of u die-hards stop any city player from bettering themselfs...you couldn`t like.no matter who was helping them, for all u know doyler could have asked dolan for his advice?.who knows.

so in the best interestes of a happy ever after can city fans forget about FAT SWOLLEN and just wish kevin doyle the best in his journeys,

peace out!
steve.

The guy is a charlatan ... claiming he is an eL fan .... not a chance ..... is there any club (in Ireland) in their right mind would take him on now ??

You just couldn't trust the guy ?? ..... or were City too trusting ??

We now, as a result of all this, we have fans wanting to oust Lennox ... pure mad stuff altogether .... the guy was a few a few step ahead of us all, saw what he was up to and got rid of the guy, and now Lennox is a public enemy ?? no one is doing him any favours ... would you be bothered ... i know i wouldn't anyway .... fair play to Lennox, he has more patience than most.

for crying out loud lads, hes only doing his job. doyler has always been his favourite player so he was always going to recommend him to his twin brother.

you all said you wanted him to bugger off and stop acting like he was city's biggest fan. now you complain when he shows he can professionally distance himself from his opinions?

and what about kevin doyle? i suppose dolan kidnapped him at gun point. kevin basically said come and get me to every club that enquired. shock! horror! he goes to a club where the biggest influence on his career is involve, and you act like doyler had no choice in the matter.

Heady Days???? Lads you are at the top of the table with a stronger (both mentally and physically) team than last season, you have a great chance of winning the league and you have money to strengthen the squad from the sale of Doyle.
Doyle will be a big loss but having seen you against Shels I think you'll be alright. Good luck to Kevin Doyle and Shane Long, i hope they do well.

I think everyone on here would like to see Doyle do well across the water and would wish him the best of luck. I think what most people are upset about is the paltry sum that City got for him, the clause in Kevin's contract and how Reading got wind of that same clause.

I've been away on holidays for the past while so I'm only catching up on all of this stuff now.

I've also kept fairly quiet on the whole Dolan thing up to now.....but my suspicions are now confirmed ........ the guy is a complete chancer and worst of all, a hypocrite.

Saints fans take a bow...........you were right all the time.

This goes well beyond City BTW.

He preaches week in week out about how badly run the EL is and the fact that those who run it don't believe in the product - "don't under sell our league" he says, yet here he is shafting (not only City but) the junior club that Doyler came from (they're entitled to a % of the E117,000 fee btw - but it could have been much more to them), by ensuring there was a get out clause that allowed him to leave for pittance his true value.

As for being committed to City ........ don't make me laugh. Doesn't smell of a manager who was with us for the long haul if he was ensuring his best player was to leave for such a pathetic sum as this, does it?

No, it stinks of a CAD who was in it for "other reasons".

I know over the coming months more of this $hit will come to light......wait and see!

Doyler - best of luck son. Thanks for the memories - we'll all look out for you next season. But after tonights game we'll also get over your departure and move on with the best team in the League, a team made up of players who would bleed City such as Hoggie, Devine, Bennett, Colin T, etc.

Dolan - You will never be trusted by any Club again in this country. Your hypocrisy is gut churningly nauscious and I personaly wouldn't trust you to sit the right way on a toilet.

FOOTNOTE TO DOLAN: As for tactical awareness and coaching ability isn't it funny that we have beaten (a much stronger) $hels team twice already this season with out you - SOMETHING YOU NEVER ACHIEVED. We,ve also had our best start to a season in years.
"Tactically astute, you're having a laugh"

all lot of people are saying that Dolan is Doyler and Longs agent and that he's only doing his job but in every new contract there is an agents fee(money for Dolan) and sometimes a finders fee(money for Dolan and his brother) and if those fee's weren't there,Doyler and Long probably wouldn't be going anywhere

Not defending Fat Pat but the person who insisted that the buyout clause was put in Doylers contract was his father when the first contract was signed from St Pats. This contract was agreed in Wexford ( not Dublin ) and signed in Cork City. His renewed contract of last year was also signed and agreed in Cork with Liam Murphy and no issue was made of his buyout clause or the amount of 117k!
Food for thought!!!!

It doesn't matter where the clause was entered ot who added it.

The facts are simple:
Pat Dolan has been lecturing everyone for years about professional irish football & how we bow to foreign clubs.
Pat brother works for Reading.
Every article in the UK media mentions the brothers.
Long & Doyle were "sold" as a package deal.
Burnley & Stoke were interested in the "package".

I had planned on writing an article on Dolan, and my doubts over him when he first came to City and got some reading material off Dodge. Never really trusted the man after reading fully about his time at Pats.
Was probably only a matter of time and in the end I was not sad to see him go, more relieved that the club had come out of it relatively financially unscathed.

DOn't forget there were plenty of us who never bought into his crap but you have to support your team even if you don't think the best man is in charge, you must accept that the man who pays his wages believes in his manager.

Had he won the el we would of been fecked as he would of been here for ages, thank goodness he was found out.

Just on the Kevin Doyle thing, I personally would want to win something for once in my life no matter where it was, not jump ship. What do you do if you win nothing at reading? move on???

should of stayed one something and then move on.

I suppose there is the idea that better to have won (league) than never to have won at all.

However Lennox has seen City (almost) fold in the past & seems to have made it his goal to ensure club is strong enough for the long term. I grew up in Cork with no senior football team & took many years before City were well established so understand his logic.
