Look it's only the first week lads, lots of mad **** happens when we start normally, never mind in the current mallarkey, as a Rovers man I think the upcoming Shels and Bohs matches could have a big say in the league, we all hate each other for 90 mins, but after the Harps match second half, we're no great shakes either so all to play for still IMO
Great 3 points last night, Pats is often a hard place for us to go to. Not seen the "Highlights" of the Sligo game with being away but will in a bit!

Can just imagine the outcry if the foul had been by a harps player!

There been some good work undone and in a few days also picking up results that may not have been expected. Lets hope that trend follows for the top 2!! Derry looked so poor against Sligo and Pats so at it v Dundalk i'd never have thought Pats would lose by 2, fatigued or not. Though Sligo did sit back against Derry and didnt press high all game as Pats did in Oriel. Harps at home v 10 men for a lot of the game against a Shels side that lost to a bit of a cobbled together new side at Waterford and to lose - big opportunity to get more points on the board missed there. It was hardly due to the efforts in Tallaght that had them leggy? If Cork win this weekend well the relegation issue wont be so predictable. Harps need even a point in the retart phase smartly.

Depressing that from Harps, couldn't pass the ball 5 yards, high balls to players who have no hope of winning balls in the air, you'd have hardly known Shels had 10 men for most of it,a race to 9th between Harps and Cork by the looks of that......

One of the worst Harps performances in years. Several players not arsed.

Nidge, who was the 16 for Harps - looked very decent on the ball, and was spraying it around. Once it went wide the crossing was poor.
Thought Bohs did very well with the ball down in Cork. Looked at ease.

Playing with fire if the Doc didnt think 'symptoms' were legit. Cheap 3 points for Sligo...

Next 24hrs will be interesting 🤔
In another game tonight Cork City have lost the Munster Senior Cup Final to Rockmount, no morale booster after Sunday’s loss to Bohs.

It will indeed if there is any substance to the question marks. It will have to be looked at seriously as the league could be suspended in fear of an outbreak so if it turns out to be some spurious tactic it will be a heavy punishment....assuming there are actually rules that allow sanction for something as bizzare.

Do Cork have a director of football type role at the club. Not everyones thing but recruitment has been poor for a while, even some of the more experienced players that were released it could be argued that 1 or 2 should have been kept. Cummins going then coming back. Not awash with money to bring in players but there doesnt seem to be improvment with those that have been signed on what was there. Not quite like Derry paying off recent signings to go mid season under Sheils. But with league performances, struggling in 2 MSC games and Fenn has had time from before covid to get his ideas across yet the same issues seem to be there. Im not fussed on Fenn in general but I thought he'd at least have his sides well organised. Longford probably had less resources but you could see gradual improvements.

Shane McEleney, usually a centre half but you're right he does comfortable in there , unfortunately Mark Coyle beside him was woeful and completely forgot how to pass to his own man!

Mark Coyle has been beyond brutal since the resumption...Maybe he had special powers in his hair to make him a decent footballer. Now that that is gone he is no longer the Burt Kante....Russell has been terrible too. Much better needed against Pats

Seems more like she didn't agree with the preventative measures they have been taking, from local reports.

Equally as concerning if it duly impacts on the league in general. What part of the preventative measures that clubs must adhere to that hasnt been applied!?

She put up a FB post (reported in media): "Been a really wonderful five seasons at Waterford FC (well one as United…!) and I’ve made some great friends and had some fantastic times (with the club). Resigning when you feel things are very wrong is sometimes the right thing to do though. I’m very sad tonight but happy I have done the right thing."
Are people saying she was against some COVID protocols then? Or that she thought they weren't being implemented properly? I see people implying some sort of shenanigans on Waterford's part, but on what basis?

Declan Divine seems to know more than he is letting on, why say it otherwise.
"Everybody that said the players are in the country for as long as they are, I hope they are able to prove it because we can and I know Sligo can,"

If what he is implying is true then 3 points for Shels from last weekend but would Sligo get 3points as the game postponed under false pretences or be made to replay it at a latter date as Waterford won't have played with an ineligible player

Is he Patrick's brother? I though he looked good, and the non-Irish-sounding lad at the back looked decent too.

Yip Patrick's brother, we need to get Barry McNamee fit and in beside him or ahead of him to have any chance. Yeah Sadiki looks solid, he's Canadian last with Hibs in Scotland.

Testing on the first Waterford player has returned as negative, hopefully the same result tomorrow for the other player... as to the statement from the club doctor and inferences from Devine , FAI need to get on top of this quickly and issue a clear and transparent statement clearing up any rumour- peoples jobs/ livelihoods are at stake here so no calculated misbehaviour or even stupidity can be tolerated by either individuals or individual clubs ( I’m in no way saying that has occurred )

It’s is definitely being implied though from what I’ve read from various sources in the media.

Sadiki is a mis-match of nationalities!
Born in Germany, grew up in Canada, eligible for Kosovo and Albania and hopes to play internationally for Albania. Is only 21 yet and has super potential.
He looked Solid last night at the back. Harps are lacking any presence up front - any phone calls to Dublin been made?

Taking in to consideration that we dont know what the issue is at Waterford but if as implied, that players may have come in and not done mandatory isolation, or that dates have been cooked, well even for LoI it would be one of the most disgraceful ever incidents. Power has chanced his arm before as we know and got bitten, I hope any messing on this considering the potential implications for the whole league, teams being able to compete in Europe etc. that the FAI stomp on this. This also implies that something suss has registered on the radar. https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020/0805/1157493-fai-will-come-down-hard-on-clubs-for-covid-breaches/ Its unlikely that a doctor would resign due to too many restrictions. Not adhereing to protocol or using protocol inappropriately to get a game postponed the for sure a club doctor should walk. I'm sure she will be asked for additional detail though it would be very general as even in this situation confidentiality on a negative case could be binding. There may only ever be implied concerns unless travel doc have been cooked.

The mirror reported there’s been no indication of broken restrictions that’s not to say there hasn’t been any. The biggest problem at Waterford is the local man running the show for Power, unfortunately said person has a bad reputation and when called out by one of the clubs most respected volunteers at the end of last season he was very quick to ban said fan. The person in questioned isn’t very liked. Pretty sure he was involved in a court case against the club a few years ago. There is now rumours about Pats handling of the covid protocols which don’t sound good, if it’s true I’ve no doubt they’re not the only club to have done it.
The FAI should have regular testing and they should have punished Bohs for breaking restrictions. That has set the precedent.
Without regular testing I don’t think the season will finish. Clubs will have to take precautions and as we’re not heading into the colder side of the year I’m sure many players will have the sniffles.
Their has been no announcement as of yet on the result of the second player that had been tested which is concerning imo. It appears as though the second suspected case is an U19 player seemingly why the club was allowed return to training.
