View Full Version : Sponsorship
Anyone know what kind of money eircom League clubs get for Sponsorship deals? Just read that Osnabruck (mid-table in german 3rd division "Regionalliga Nord") signed a 2-year deal worth between €250,000 and €300,000. How do we compare. Crowds in that league seem reasonably similar to those in the eL, most games about 1500 to 2000 one or two up as far as 7500- but that very rare.
I think I remeber Bray signing a 3 year 100k plus deal with NTL a couple of years ago. I doubt if any club getting over 50k a year.
I don't think you can compare attendances really as its more the TV coverage & countries population that would have most impact.
If you pick any of the mid-ranking euro countries like switxerland or austrai etc etc.... they would get fairly low average crowds but i'm guessing have good tv & media exposure in their own countries & they sell players for several millions. Only in England do they really get consistentlt high attendance figures through the top & lower leagues. Sure look at Italt, Spain, France & Germany & will see crowds of less than 10k at a few top division clubs most weeks.
Forgot what point i was trying to make...maybe i made it....

yeah, i was just mentioning attendances as I'd noticed them as well, not really making a link. Although, tv coverage is probably similar to that of the eircom League

the thing is that in Germany these 3rd Division clubs can have good cup runs etc and get draws against the likes of Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Kaiserslautern but in Ireland that can't happen (at least not in domestic competition!)
