i'm not that guy it's my first time here, and you have a great forum.
i hope that after satuerday you will know "this guy"'s name good...
and i think scoring twice against real in the bernabeo in front of 90000 people qualifies as enogh

Fair enough, I honestly would like to see Israel qualify behind Ireland but I think the main game for ye is in Switzerland. Ireland were the better side in Tel Aviv, if we had shown more ambition and less negative tactics, we would have won by 2 maybe 3 goal margin.
Will just have to wait and see this new guy, we heard the same of benayoun before the last game and he wasnt much to talk about.
Whereas after sat, you'll be talking alot about Duff, Keane, Reid........

Heh Go Israel, welcome aboard (well one of us has to show the guy some manners rather than biting the head of him for having the gall to not only support his own country but be optimistic for their chances ;) )

Hope you've a great time in Dublin and enjoy the game whatever the result.

Two-Nil to us by the way!!! :D

thank you very much, i have a feeling that dublin is going to be one of the best away trips.
about the two-nil. i'm planing on having at least one happy moment in the game, so at least one goal for us. this is what i said when macabi haifa played at manchester united and indeed yaniv katan, who will play tomorow, scored the first goal. i hope tomorow doesn't end as that game did 5-1. but on the second game haifa won man u 3-0 so maybe second games are good for us.

first of all thanks for the warm welcome, it is getting me all anxtios for the trip.

"Whereas after sat, you'll be talking alot about Duff, Keane, Reid..."

we are talking about them a lot now, so hopfully we will stop after the game.
just to get you guys on ground from all of your 3 goal margin predictions, israel's national team and israeli teams are not strange to wining important matches against big teams - some results from the past years:
hapoel tel aviv - chelsea: hapoel kicked chelsea out of the uefa cup (i don't remember if duff was one of the casulties there...). hapoel went on to the querter final of the uefa cup that year, and lost to milan.
macabi haifa- man u: 3-0 - i'm sure there was at least one irish ambasdor on the losing side that night.
macabi tel aviv - ajax: 2-0 - a result from this years champions league.
france - israel: 2-3: although it was a long time ago (10 years) that game kicked france out of the world cup qualifiers.

so wining in dublin good be a nice addition to the list (not to talk about the consequense of going to the world cup...)

Just a little prediction for you: in the summer of 2006 you will be sitting in Tel Aviv or Ramallah or Jerusalem or somewhere else watching Ireland play in the World Cup Finals.
You might even have a Swiss mate or a French friend with you. :D

so you think ireland will win her playoff game... interesting :D

Cant speak for the rest but i def dont see a 2/3 margin, prob a 2-1 result for Ireland i reckon. You mention israelie club teams, thats all fine but club football is a completely different matter. As i said before, this is Ireland in front of a packed lansdowne, its v rare we dont get the result we need.

Hope you enjoy your stay in Ireland but dont expect much welcome or favours on sat evening. Oh and do us a favour and stuff the swiss when ye play them.

as for the national team we have numerous draws against the first line of national teams -france (4 draws - somehow we play them each campign), spain... and wins against teams like austria, romania, and turkey.

Yep macabi tel aviv and their neighbours Hapoel are decent enough. Beaten a few big boys in the last few years. GREATSTUFF.
But how many of the international team actually play for either of them??
Me thinks none :)

Almost all of your national team play for clubs low down in the israeli league.
Even with the injuries at the back and Roy missing, if we can't beat you at Lansdowne then, fcuk that, I'm giving up the football and taking up tiddly winks :D

8-9 players from the starting eleven on saturday play in the israeli league, most of them come from macabi and hapoel tel aviv and macabi haifa (the champions).
and personaly i (and grant...) think that this team is better, then letting players like eyal berkovic play...

Hey Go Israel, I bet you're looking forward to the novelty of using public transport again eh?! :D

yep, it is strange to use public transportation without fear, and to go into a resturant without being checked. but it was said in the israeli papers that pro plaestinian groups are planing activities around the game - so i'll feel at home :)

for some reason i think this match will be like Albania at home in 2003. we were lucky to win that. Kerr has said......its a game we SHOULD win but its not a must win for us. That sounds very cautious for a home game.

I'm going for a 1-0 for ireland but i hope its a lot more then that.

C'mon this is getting ridiculous. :) No manager in world football would say yes when asked if this game was a must win.

but if we dont get the 6 points,we can forget anything bar the play-off.
Why? If we get 4 points here we'll have 3 matches left. Win those matches and we'll win the group.

how many a/c's is that now D? ;)

There seems to be alot of confidence around and this seems to be a good thing as there was alot of moaning voices (including my own) around after Suan's equaliser. Personnaly I think those that are postive are right to be so. Both teams played under par but I think it was clear we were the better side. I'm goin for 3 - 1. Thought you'd get better odds on 9 -1 on that so I'm keeping the dosh in the pocket and will be spending the extra on a few afternoon pints :) We will get a scare as that seems part of the course with us but we will see this one through and then its on to Weds where there will be Puffin Pie for everyone. :D

I say we'll lose.

4-0 Ireland, even without Roy in the midfield. I am very confident about this game and I think that Duff will draw two penalty shots in the match. The Israeli defence isn't fast enough to handle him as we saw when we played them on their training pitch/full international stadium two months ago. They won't get away with simply hacking his legs every time O'Shea feeds the ball to him.

Fair point. If we can't beat Israel at home, I don't see how we could manage to beat Switzerland and France at home. I really like Kerr and I love following this team but if we can't finish off Israel at home, we don't deserve to top the group. I don't care about the Israeli hype: they're an average to good team that did little to trouble us in Tel Aviv except in the last minute. There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't dominate midfield and the wings, no reason at all.

France, OK, but the Swiss are no better than Israel. In fact, the way Israel will set out tomorrow I'd be more confident of beating the Swiss. We raise our game against the bigger and better teams so I could easily see us beating France if we fail to beat Israel/Switzerland/Cyprus/Faroes ( ).

I can't stand the Swiss at this stage and can't wait to give them a bloody nose! Tomorrow won't be a piece of p!ss but I can't see why we wouldn't dominate midfield and how our defence couldn't cope with anything they have. Like most of us have said, they got away with a lot of negative stuff in Tel Aviv when it came to Duff. It was just constant and they won't get away with it in Dublin.

I expect them to be well-organised and difficult to break down initially but I still don't see anything more than a well-disciplined, motivated but very average team. Again, they can talk tough all they want but the only team they've beaten so far is Cyprus. That's the same as us but they've played us, France and the Swiss at home, games that you have to be winning if you seriously want to contend. They didn't win and came from behind in each game, showing a lot of bottle and spirit but not showing any ability to actually take a lead and hold it against a decent team and not plankton like Cyprus. We all know how dodgy the Swiss are - a very average performance from us in Basel earned us a 1-1 draw. They put two past the Israelis in Tel Aviv, who again had to come from behind to get a draw.

They're tough, that's for sure, and they have a load of nerve and fair play to them but we're a better team with better defenders and midfielders. No excuse for not beating them, as far as I'm concerned, much as I admire Kerr.

We have to give Israel a lot of respect, they've played France twice already and are unbeaten against them. We've a fantastic record at home and should score at least once - I think only Brazil have kept us scoreless at home - but the measure of how we've improved as a team is going to be what we do after scoring, play for safety and defend (like in Tel Aviv) or go for the killer second and third goals? Christ I'm nervous!!
