The point about Paddy Cusack being Fixtures Secretary, and Ballynanty winning the league is moot, but possibly contains a lot of truth. I think its fair to say that if the league ties were played regularly each week, and mapped out in advance, Pike would have won the league comfortably.

Balla found themselves in the easy position of playing catch up against teams that had little or nothing to play for, and some who even struggled to field teams...hardly fair on Pike.If it was a level playing field, no back log of games etc, and an unbiased fixtures secretary then I think it'd have been a different story.
Fairview won leagues in this fashion for years & I never heard anyone complain about it? All I heard was Fairview are the dogs b******
I don't supposse this site existed then though

you still have to win matches no matter who you are playing

and looking at fixtures above from a neutral point of view
would have expected pike to win

well if he does get it he will do well providing he is left get on with the job without any interference,he proved with limerick that with a limited pool of players he can get results

thats very true but what thanks did he get for it?

I'd say its to soon to tell who is going where this season to be honest...An awful lot of rumours about this player going here and this player going there...won't probably know until season kicks off who is where to be honest!!!

players usually sign for the team they do pre-season with. For any club serious about winning things next year that should be starting very soon.

Gentle Ben

ALL THE CLUBS YOU HAVE MENTIONED HAVE DIFFERENT DEFINITIONS OF A GOOD SEASON.

TO PIKE, BALLA & FAIRVIEW A GOOD SEASON IS WINNING THE LEAGUE & A GOOD RUN IN THE FAI OR MUNSTER JUNIOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL LIFTED ONE OF THESE TROPHIES IN RECENT TIMES.
THE BORO ARE HAPPY ENOUGH WITH BEING THE BEST OF THE REST & NOT REALLY CHALLENGE FOR THE MAJOR HONOURS.
ONLY BALLA CAN CLAIM TO HAVE HAD A GOOD SEASON LAST YEAR.

spot on

Because with all due respect to the Lawson & tuohy none of the big 4 clubs in town are interested in them until they are out of contention for the major competitions, with the exception maybe of the Boro.

Pike are used to winning leagues & Munster Junior Cups, the Lawson & Tuohy are not considered priority by Pike or Fairview or Balla who have now won back to back leagues.

My point is that at the beginning of the season the aim for Pike, Balla & Fairview is to win the league, fai or Munster Junior & to achieve this is a successful season.

It would be interesting to see who has won what in the last 5 years, maybe it has been done on the site already if so sorry. Certainly what you say is true but the local cups have their part to play. if there was some incentive for clubs to win them then they would grow in importance but a cheap medal presented at the front door is hardly enough. Serious cash incentives or a hooker or two should do the trick.

this is junior football we're talking about, players players should be playing for the love of the game.if you want cash incentives, then pike are your team

ya i agree 100% with what has been said about the fixtures problem that arises every year but regardless there should be some incentive there for teams as well to field strong teams.Ballynanty deserved to clearly win the league in the end as they ended up with the most points (logically) but i think we are still living in the dark ages at times as u cannot have a team having 9 matches to play in the middle of april when everyone else is finshed bar 1,this only ends up showing what the local league is, and thats a joke at times.the organisational skills of those involved in the fixtures needs to be looked at. the worst part is that it will happen again next year and the year after that until the issue is addressed. I think its only for the good of the game that it should be done.Anyone else have any recommendations to the resolution to this problem, maybe get a new fixture secretary.

This problem will never go away, far too much politics in the game. Bring in new blood and get rid of the old. They have taken it as far as they can now its time for some new ideas.

Yes & the first idea should be to change the kick off times for Junior matches.
This 10:30 start is something I could never understand.
Why not play the games on Friday evenings in the summer & Saturday afternoons in the winter.
I can't see the point of guys having to get up on Sundays at 09:00 to play a match.

Isn't in funny to think that the forms for next season are out 13/14 of July & this years Lawson cup might not even be finished at that stage.
Organisation !!!

Pike could be very strong next year

Alan Barry is doing pre season with ULAA. Whats going on at fairview, who is the new manager?

Glasheen and Lawlor will not be enough to change things at janesboro, they have tried to sign everyone in town by the sounds of it. Quality not quantity?

Jason O Connor is doing preseason with ULAA also.

Mike Aherne will be staying with Limerick
Conway is going to ULAA

Hill Celtic will be better organised but lack quality players in key positions.

ULAA could be something of a mystery next year, its still a jump from U21 to junior premier, if they can sign those players mentioned and they gell early in the season maybe they will be a threat? hard to know anything about promoted sides. Dont think they will be relegated?

Most promoted sides go back down within a year or two but it would not surprise me if they finished in the top 4, they have a good blend of youth and experience and if they sign the players talked about they will be very strong. They have a good set up and the biggest under age set up in munster by all accounts. The LOI under 21's would be a nice pool of players to pick from. Also heard that Lou Quigley will be going there also.

Don't think ULaa will go down, i think it could be the year for the cork lads. They have a nice pitch but the travelling is a bit much. Its still better than playing in portland park, now thats an insult to football.

I think Hill Celtic are bankers to be relegated (even with Tommy Lynch in charge).

And then it's one from Mungret, Charleville, UL/AA, & Granville to go with them.

That leaves Balla, Pike, the View, Carew, Boro, Park & Regional (can't see any of them fighting relegation next season!!!!!!!

Janesboro had a friendly tonight (don't know who against), but neither Jason O'Connor or Alan Browne were playing with them as they were playing inter firm for Sercom.

So they'll hardly be signing with them???

Can anyone confirm the rumours that the Boro have signed Johnners (ex Balla keeper) for this season??
