Figo released by el Real

Real Madrid have released Portuguese international winger Luis Figo, according to Spanish newspaper Marca. The 32-year-old fell out with coach Wanderley Luxemburgo near the end of the season after being used as a sub as Real finished second behind Barcelona.

"The way they treated me when I was dropped wasn't right. They didn't tell me I wasn't going to play. It really hurt my pride," Figo told Marca.

The former World Player of the Year had a year left to run on his Real deal.

He may be joining Spurs according to the Beeb, who knows? Legend of a player though, sad to see him treated this way.

at the time it was a good price for him cos in 2000 he was one of the top three players in the world.

he had a great 1999-2000 season with barca , they should have won the cl that season and a great euro 2000 with Portugal too .

I thought behind Casillas he was Madrids best player this season before Luxembergo came in and dropped him. I'd agree with ya there, he's only 32. 3/4 years of good football left in him. Personally i think he would be a good signing for United, Play him on the right hand side of midfield, would create buckets of chances for the strikers. I would still rate him as a class player

If he signed for Manure can you seriously see him putting in the graft thats needed in the premiership games aginst the likes of Wigan,Bolton,West Ham,West Brom etc,surely he'd go missing in action and only show up for the bigger games and the Champions league games,that could be costly in the long run,thats exactly why Ferguson got rid of Beckham.
