It seems Sunderland are going to sign Jon Stead. Does anyone see Murphy making it at Sunderland? I'd hate to think one of the eL's stars just went to England to rot away in the reserves.

The leap is too great I think. I love Irish players doing well over there & I hope he can make it so we can get another striker in the international team but I reckon he'll be back in a year.

The one saving factor for him it seems that Sunderland have released a few strikers. Brian Deane, Michael Bridges and Marcus Stewart. They have Elliot, Kevin Kyle (who has injury trouble and I reckon is not too great), probably Jon Stead who I think showed great potential in his first season at Blackburn and some young chap called Brown. That leaves 4 strikers ahead of him at least.

at the moment if stead joins murphy will be one of four injury free strikers .. elliott stead and chris brown young lad who is decent but dont think prem league standard , how many clubs in the prem have any less than 4 strikers.. we also have kyle but he has to have another operation on his hip and might never play again.. he has a chance why not take it ??

It'll be a tall order to break into the first team, a season out on loan wouldn't do him any harm but I doubt Sunderland will do that.
