Hi,
Can anybody explain me about re-election? I know that 2 bottom clubs have the re-election every year (for example Lims and Mons last year or usually Kilkenny) but no teams are relegated because it does not exist Second division, so what is the sense of re-election?
Thanks !

I'd imagine if a serious club from say the Leinster or Munster Senior leagues expressed a real desire to compete in the eL and showed viable plans about infrastructure and the likes then re-election could prove a problem to a club who were in the state Limerick were in last year.

Why was this posted in the Galway Utd Section, should it not be in the Eircom League general Section.
I can understand our fans being upset at the moment but you have to remember we have less than 1/3 of our games played yet. There is still a long way to go and it's all very tight for now.
If we win our game in hand, we're only 8 points off 2nd place and 11 points off 1st.
Dont get me wrong i'm not defending them or anything and of course i'd prefer us to be up the top end of the table, I'm just trying to be optimistic thinking that we've hit our bad patch at the beginning of the season and as the song goes "Things can only get better".
No more talk about re-election please :(

Sorry GalwayGirl;
I have posted this topic in Galway United Forum not because United is 11st by now. The reason is because I am a Galway United fan from Spain (I have match programmes, items of the club and even a website since 4 years ago, but this is not the place to publish it, i know !!), and because i am not Irish I donīt understand what sense has the re-election, i am used to see promotion-relegation in my country in all divisions, but i know that in EL is different because there are not relegation to a "Second Div", but that makes crazy to have that re-election if any team wonīt be relegated unless for economical reasons.
Apologises GalwayGirl, but I didnīt want to say that United will finish in re-election place !! hehehee CīMon the Tribesmen !
See ya !

No problem Bono_Keane,
I dont think the Tribesmen will have to worry about it (re-election) come the end of the Season ;)

Yes Terry, not 11st !! heheehe :o
It would be a disaster to be placed in 11st position in a league of only 10 teams !! :p

How did your home team do this year? Were they going for promotion from the segunda to primera division?
If you have to apply for re-election you'll only get turned
down if the club is going bankrupt. Also the licencing might
bring in further requirements - not sure though

Terry,
Cádiz, my home team, is still 3rd (the last place to promotion) and with 3 points over the 4th and 5th teams placed....Still 3 games to finish...Hopefully we will promotion to La Liga but we will suffer !!
Trying to survive in Primera Division between Real Madrid, Barcelona, Deportivo...would be another different story...hehehe
Thank you for your interest Terry

Ash,
I understand what do you think, but probably teams in better places on the table could have more financial problems than the bottom 2 clubs...at least here in my country there a lot of teams which relegated to lower divisions for financial problems when they were in decent positions on the league table...
I think Shamrock Rovers has financial problems this season or Limerick 2 or 3 years ago, and itīs not necessary to be on the bottom 2 in First division...so I canīt find a sense in the re-election  :ball:

Thank you very much Terry ! I will see Becks, Ronaldo, Zidane and co. in my stadium (if tickets are not too much expensive :D ).
I donīt know if you know, but former Republic of Ireland player Michael Robinson is one of the members of Cádiz management structure (i think he is one of the directors). I talk about this in another topic :ball:
Proud to see a Tribesmen supporting Cádiz !!! ;)
