Seeing as we won't have football for a couple of weeks, the Cork Business League have decided to try to gather information from all our 19 teams across 19 days. This should keep us going until we have fixtures again!

Our first iteration yesterday was Colso Celtic (Colso Cold Food Storage), which can be viewed here (https://corkbusinessleague.ie/team/colso-celtic/).

Today, it is Janssen FCs turn, which you can read here (https://corkbusinessleague.ie/team/janssen/).

Enjoy lads! I'll post each days team here!

Do ye think ye will finish out the season?

The only thing going for us is that we are a small league so we could get things done within 4-5 weeks. The FAI sent out a questionnaire the other day to all leagues. This was to give them an idea of what stages current competitions are at so i would assume that they have to analyse that first before making a blanket decision

Please see below the Cork Business League COVID-19 Support Page created in light of the recent developments on the FAI's "Safer Return to Training" protocol.

This page has been created to provide one source of information in relation to COVID-19 and how the Cork Business League plans to return to football for the 2020/2021 season.

Once a review of the documents provided and instructions outlined by the FAI has been carried out, the Cork Business League will follow all measures appropriate and give a brief update on the next steps for the CBL in the coming days.

AUL is a pub league bar Coachford currently and the amateur looking website reflects this but as you said theres no reason they cant have a decent up to date website at least. CBL has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years and its worse the AUL is getting, wont be long til AUL is regarded as worse then the BL. Looking forward to seeing how Doolans Cow do in the cups this year against the MJL sides.

Earlier in August, the Cork Business League was nominated in this year’s Cork Digital Marketing Awards. Today, we are proud to have progressed to the semi-final stage.

The following 2 categories are what the CBL have reached the semi final stage in:

https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/tb2/1.5/16/32_20e3.png Best Transformation – Traditional to Digital Marketing

As a not-for-profit sporting organisation, the Cork Business League plays a key role in supporting community and society at large so this opportunity is an incredible way to shine a spotlight on the league and win an award that recognises our recent innovations, hard work and achievements in digital growth.

No problem, just trying to let people no there is a 2nd website to get information on the AUL. It’s easier to use. Lots a negativity on here about all cork football just trying to share something positive.

Used to come on here before mostly giving out about refs but have to say today lads Jay Bazz v Cork Hospitals Graham Duffy was very good. It was a decent competitive game a lot of giving out as you’d expect jay Bazz came out 2-0 winners and with a lot of tackles and bitching I thought the ref handled it very well

Peter Harrington, CBL Chairman, has represented the CBL on all aspects of football in Ireland for nearly three decades and today has passed the responsibility onto Peter Travers, CBL Secretary.

Peter Harrington’s time on the Munster FA began at the start of the 1992 / 1993 season where he joined the council as an independent member, as the CBL was represented by Jackie O’Driscoll until the 2001 / 2002 season when Harrington became the league’s official representative.

Since then, Peter Harrington was voted Chairman of the MFA for two seasons starting with the 2004 / 2005 season, for which he held the position of Vice Chairman from 2002 to 2004. During his time as Chairman, he was presented with a Long Service Recognition Award in 2004 for his efforts and commitment to the CBL, the MFA and the FAI over the years. His commanding voice and distinctive ability to control a room led him to serve on various sub-committees of the MFA until recently.

- Referees Committee
- Protest and Appeals Committee
- Grounds Committee (Chairman, 2014)
- Disciplinary Committee (Chairman, 2000)
- Executive Committee
- Finance Committee

Peter also was an influential member of many committees for the wider FAI Junior and Senior Councils since the 2001 / 2002 season and is a well-known character up in FAI HQ in Abbotstown.

With Marine facing Tottenham in the FA Cup this weekend, I dug into the history books of the Cork Business League as "Marine FC" sounded like a team that would have played in the CBL in years gone by. What we found was Marina Bakeries FC, who played in the CBL in the 1970s, and had a factory on Monahan Road.

Their tenure only lasted one season in the league, back in 1975/76. That year, Marina Bakeries only won two of their eight shield matches but fared much better in the newly formed second division. In a one round format they went unbeaten in their first six, winning five and drawing one before losing to eventual winners Aer Lingus. However, all was not lost as they defeated Pfizer’s B 2-0 to force a play-off with Aer Lingus at the Showgrounds. Unfortunately they lost 5-2.

Marina Bakeries FC finished the season the with the following stats: 𝗣𝟭𝟵 𝗪𝟴 𝗗𝟮 𝗟𝟵 𝗙𝟱𝟬 𝗔𝟰𝟳

In this period of football, it was unusual for a team to leave after a season but we wonder did the company go under or was it the prospect of promotion to the old First Division to face the likes of Postal, Fords and Youghal prove too daunting? Some might say maybe they didn't have enough dough to continue.. as all the funding had to be self-raised https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/tfb/1/16/1f64a.png (https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/tfb/1/16/1f64a.png)

CBL Champions Super Cup!

The concept of this competition is to fictitiously find out who were the best team of the 70-year history of the Cork Business League. The Cork Business League will celebrate it’s 70th anniversary next season so, in an attempt to find out which one team would have dominated through all eras, we will put in the mix the top 8 teams spreading from the 50s right through to the present day. This is a straight knockout competition with all 8 teams entering at the Quarter Final stage.

The teams selected are as follows:

1. Fords
2. CIE Athletic
3. Postal Workers
4. Youghal Yarns
5. MCM
6. Marlboro Trust
7. Doolans Cow
8. EMC

Our refereeing panel for this prestigious competition has been chosen as the following stalwarts of the CBL:

Derry Barrett, Kevin Coughlan, Bertie Stark, Pat Buckley, Paddy O’Mahony, Damien O’Mahony, Robbie Gregan, Bill Killackey, Connie Long, Denis Morley, Frank Hourigan, Finbarr Bevan, Denis Donovan, Pat Clancy, Denis Cronin.
