STUART Byrne returns from suspension as Longford Town look to put two costly defeats behind them with victory against Monaghan United at Flancare Park tonight (7:30).

Byrne has been missed by the midlanders, who are reeling after defeats to fellow relegation strugglers Dundalk and Bray Wanderers.

Last week’s defeat to Bray virtually rules out any chance of Longford catching the Seasiders – so the best they can hope for is the relegation play-off berth they are currently occupying.

However even that is not a certainty given Dundalk’s recent form – which culminated in yesterday’s brilliant 4-0 win against Shamrock Rovers to reach the FAI Cup final.

Longford are still without Eric Lavine, while Sean Prunty is out for the remainder of the season through injury.
