Stephen Reid is better than Andy Reid IMO. Andy Reid is along with Liam Miller the most overrated player ever to don a Republic of Ireland shirt. :)

stephen reid reeks of average while andy reid is pure quality ... liam miller id agree with .. would like to see kav and kilbane but would also not be too bothered if he chose matty and kilbane cause very little between the two imo ...

Andy Reid is pure gold and is going to come very good for us. He hasn't had much of crack of the whip in competitive internationals - ran the game against Cyprus when he also scored, didn't put a foot wrong against Frogs and played fine out of position against Faroes. Only nothing game he has had so far was against Swiss in Basel, where in fairness he was in good company in terms of underperforming. Finally we have a player with an eye for the killer ball and the ability to deliver it with too. I don't know how you could say he is over-rated - to my knowledge nobody has been talking THAT highly of him... :confused:

Is Holland not tried and tested ??
If the team with the best individuals won, Greece would not be the champions of Europe and O'Brien-Cunningham wouldn't have one of the world's most impressive records together. I'm sure livehead meant that Kav-Kilbane is tried and tested. Holland-Kilbane is tried but Holland failed miserabely. Maybe it was a one off but its not worth the risk.

i'd play Kav and Reid, with Duff and Reid on the wings.

I'm sure livehead meant that Kav-Kilbane is tried and tested. Holland-Kilbane is tried but Holland failed miserabely. Maybe it was a one off but its not worth the risk.

sorry ? holland failed miserabely ? very harsh .... quality player and does a good job with killa imo

They only played one time together and he failed miserably. Look a few posts back, I'm not repeating myself. :)

thought they did alright complemented each other well... id be happy with either kav or matty with killa .. either duo should be enough to dominate midfield..

I'll post everyone's comments from the Czech Republic match thread (http://foot.ie/showthread.php?t=13442) but it is clear Holland failed in his only match partnering Kilbane and it would be a risk:

Holland 6 - Quietly efficient. Did ok as emergency centre back.

Holland 5 - Hasn't done anything in an Irish shirt since World Cup.

MATT HOLLAND: Anonymous in midfield and at fault for the goal. Needs to start reproducing his premiership form at international level.

Its kind of funny that anyone could think that Stephen Reid is better than Andy.

Fair enough on Miller, he is rubbish, but Andy Reid will be one of the best players ever to pull on a green jersey.
