Thought I'd start a thread for Kayode as he scored his first goal in Senior League (as opposed to Non-League) football with an injury-time equaliser for Carlisle against Harry Charlsey's Mansfield: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/51246378

Sorry, absolutely right Tets - so that's two goals in his first three games for Carlisle - time for Stephen Kenny to have a word about his international plans?

I wonder if there is passport issues like neyah at forest? Simply because he didnt see. To feature underage

Sorry for the really delayed follow-up - he hasn't played underage for anyone so surely he can still choose without concern. Although admittedly neither has En-Neyah - have either of them had problems getting their passports?

Anyway, it appears any chance of Kayode breaking out in The Championship in the immediate term has subsided for now as he has gone on a season long loan back to Carlisle - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53649920. Still worth keeping an eye on him and he will probably be in competition with Afolabi, Keena and Scully for the back-up forward spots behind Idah and Parrott in the U21 squad

Keena has dropped down to League One in Scotland. His berth is very fair game.

Credited with an assist for Carlisle's first goal against Salford City - seems to be having a fairly productive season, with fifteen appearances and two goals under his belt to date: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/55067548

Third of the season for Kayode, with a towering header from a Carlisle corner - seems to be growing, both upwards and as a player:

At the moment you would say hes a better prospect than Afolabi whos not exactly lighting it up in the Scottish Championship. Id probably put him in a similar bracket as Anthony Scully now. Seems like a decent lower league striker and will be interesting to see if he can push on from that.

I wouldn't put him ahead of Afolabi just yet - as has been mentioned elsewhere, Afolabi has been unfortunate to be stuck at Celtic, where he's not getting game time but wasn't sent out on loan until just before COVID - he's still got a respectable three goals in ten games so we'll have to wait and see if he can build on that through this season. Whereas Rotherham have clearly been proactive in ensuring Kayode gets first-team action and he has definitely shown that he has some promise with 12 goals in 45 games.

Although, I guess you could make the case that based on experience and the home club they're at, it does seem more likely that we'll see Kayode playing at a level (Championship) that would make him a reasonable option next season.

Afolabi needed to go to Dundee and get 20 goals this season if he wants to have any chance of breaking into the Celtic 1st team. People bitch about Celtic but they are still a massive club that recruit from all over the world. I think young lads have gone there expecting to walk into the team and get a rude awakening when they realize its not that easy

Its hard to score goals from the treatment table. Give him a chance.

I agree that Afolabi does need to take advantage of his opportunity at Dundee, although 20 goals in his first full season might be asking a bit much - 10-15 would probably be enough for a better loan next season and there's still time for that if he can stay injury-free. He should be back in action this weekend, according to this article: https://www.eveningtelegraph.co.uk/fp/dundee-boss-james-mcpake-says-jordan-mcghee-can-make-box-to-box-midfield-slot-his-own-and-be-the-dark-blues-murray-davidson/

Joshua Kayode: he could be playing for Rotterham or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome.

But he actually plays for Carlisle United.

Opened the scoring in 3-2 defeat to Tranmere, his fifth of the season - reasonable return for a first full season of League football - hopefully can put a run together to his double figures: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56079579

Seventh of the season for Kayode in his first full season of League football: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56781989 - decent return - hopefully he can build on that when he returns to Rotherham (likely in League One)

Replaced someone who was clearly not on fire after fifty-six minutes and four minutes later scored his first League One goal, his first league goal for Rotherham with an assist from Ogbene, which seems appropriate: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/60210074

Didn't have a great season at MK Dons in 2022/23, but may now be returning to EFL 1 with Barnsley:
