Cobh Ramblers Youth Team drew 2-2 with Cork City Youths this morning in Bishopstown. This result means that Ramblers will finish runners up to City in the league. Ramblers needed to win this game to force a play off with City and Ramblers had the better og the opening exchanges with Andy Hogan very unlucky not to score. City playing with the aid of a strong wind took the lead with a goal from the edge of the area. They increased thier lead with 10 mins left in the half when James O'Donovan beat the offside trap to slot the ball pass the advancing Mark Barmbury. John Coughlan changed thing tacticially at half time going with a 4-3-3 formation and this paid dividendswith Ramblers dominating the exchanges. The pace of Sean Daly, Ian Stack & Mickey O'Shea was causing the City defence a lot of problems and it came as no surprise when City conceded a penalty when Daly was taken down. The same player slotted home the spot kick with ease. It was all Ramblers now and from a corner kick the ball broke to centre back Rob Hourihan on the right edge of the box and he hit a sweet volley with gave the City keeper no chance. Ramblers needed a third goal to force a playoff and unlucky not to get the goal in the last five minutes hitting the post on one occasion. City held out to win the league.

Well done to John Coughlan and his assistants Liam Amphlett & Eddie Ellard for a job well done this season.
