I have a question - Who do you see replacing our great chairman?

Any ideas/sugestions as to which rich, eL-loving men out there are looking to take over a club like ours, where fans get on your back after you pouring your heart, soul and money into a club you love?

i dont get the idea that lennox is a saint. yes he's been good for the club, and everyone appreciates the effort he's put in.

but to narrow a very broad topic to one incident, put it this way.

dolan was sacked because he wanted to spend €100,000 or so on training facilities.
rico possibly cost us €150,000 by not playing our best available players, uselss unimaginative tactics (brainwave, lets push dan murray up front! ), and not giving the team the bollocking they deserved.

in economics we call that an opportunity cost of €50,000. he can complain about fans not turning out all he likes, but the actuall football could have earned €80,000 that day.

Look outside Turners Cross any match night. The only queue is for people willing to come and support our club by buying tickets and going home afterwards.
There is never a queue of people, AFAIK, willing to spend a lot of their money to guarantee players' wages, meet exacting regulations, pay for the Gardai, pay the security, lead a board, etc. etc. etc.
What exactly can we do to make Brian Lennox's life as club chairman any way easier? I for one am damn glad to have an investor who appears to be there for the love of the game. I hope that he does not take any of the spoofers seriously.

Couldn't agree more FPB. Lennox has put his money where his mouth is and his ambition and desire is plain for anyone to see. Of course he's made mistakes, and he's not a saint, but the criticism he's got is so over the top it beggars belief

He's more than welcome to join us... :p

Fits all the criteria we need in a chairman. Rich, good business head, doesn't get onvolve with team affairs, hates Panto Lad, etc etc

i agree with you. more people should have open minds: every character in our soap opera has good and bad traits. lennox has been a revalation, but if we cant objectively say that someone has made a mistake then we live up to the naive reputation we're getting as a group of fans. same applies to dolan.

the rico out brigade, all 10 of them, are a joke, and need to try out that objectivity thing. what good is it going to do? will dolan magically appear back in the driving seat?

i really liked the suggestion that you wouldnt read my posts.

Helpful tip:
1) Click my username.
2) In the drop down menu that appears, click "View Public Profile"
3) When the next page appears, about 1/2 way down the page on the right is a link saying "Add GavinZac to your ignore list". Click it.
4) Relax and enjoy not having to worry about taking what I say out of context, or misinterpret it, or just plain declare it wrong because its my opinion anymore.

As usual, when you can't say anything useful or sensible, pathetic sarcasm is the fallback position.....

theres nothing sarcastic about that post, patsh. read it again.
you said absolutely nothing in your post above and yet managed to get your dig in at me without participating in a topic. would you like to qualify what you said, or even what your problem with what i said is?

or is it easier to blurt out two lines of idiocy and move on, with a warm fuzzy feeling inside?

1. You have claimed you know why Dolan was sacked.
2. You gave some sort of bizarre lesson in economics, which made no sense whatsoever.

3. Get over you persecution complex, I neither know who you are or what you are and couldn't care in anyway whatsoever. I responded to a post, but never let that get in the way of your warped little ego's view of your own self-importance.

1. You have claimed you know why Dolan was sacked.
as i said, i was narrowing down the broad situation to a single incident. if dolan and the teams whinging about training facilities didnt contribute to the sacking I'd be very surprised.

2. You gave some sort of bizarre lesson in economics, which made no sense whatsoever.
its a simple concept patsh, heres the lesson:
if i have enough money for one item of fruit, and i pick an orange instead of an apple, the opportunity cost (OC) is that I didnt get to eat an apple. a pretty low OC.
If I can buy a car that cheap in the short term but will guzzle petrol and break down a lot, instead of a dearer, more reliable car, the opportunity cost would be however more expensive the "cheaper" car is.
If a Brian Lennox decides not to improve training facilities and sack a manager in the process, he'll save himself money. However, in sacking that manager and appointing one who appeared not to know what he was doing, he cost the club €150,000. taking a rough estimate of how much dolan and the players wanted to spend immediately on improving training facilities, at €100,000, the opportunity cost would be the €50,000 the club lost by making a bad decision.
yes, i know there were broader forces at work, i say that in the post

i dont need to go pull out every stupid comment from you from the forum search. you know yourself. say what you want on here, you know yourself.
