Confirmed to enter the underage leagues: https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2020/0113/1106153-limerick-to-enter-teams-in-underage-league-of-ireland/

Conn Murray, former CEO of local council, in at least temporary charge. Market's Field stated as the home ground, but don't know how they are affording it!

Wouldn't be overly keen.

More than a bit of a smell of the old regime of it.

A fair few people involved in the coaching/academy committee side that we could have done with a year out to purge.

The ladies are by all accounts well ran and had the good sense to keep the rest of the club at the other end of a barge pole last year.

The academy committee are nodding dogs who raised a grand total of sweet **** all last year.

Con Murray looks impressive until you take a look at Limerick city or county. A clown with a big title.

Do I hope it does well? Yeah shur why not.

Do I think it will do well? No, not really.

Presumably they didn't roll in yahooing with a big bag of money firing their pistols in the air.

Limerick FC were paying the bones of 2 grand a game.

Ballynanty Rovers were paying the bones of 100 quid for the same thing.

I'd imagine Limerick United are closer to the latter than the former!

There's a reason why people were anxious to know about the academy committee yesterday...

We can only wish all involved well in their endeavours, however it already has the smell of failure,Tommy B,s interviews have been a PR disaster and info on planning has,n been forthcomimg. The production of Conn Murray as a ...temp....head of operations is a curious one to say the least.

I missed Barrett's interview, what happened there?

Limerick given the go-ahead to apply for a licence for 2020 - https://twitter.com/Cunneen92/status/1218258796549681152

WTF is going on? Either they deny Limerick a licence, or they kick another team out of the league (Rovers II being the obvious ones), or they redo the entire fixture schedule.

The LoI truly must be among the worst run leagues in Europe. And that's saying quite a lot.

Going by Owen Cowsers piece in the Sun today assuming Limerick FC get a licence there could be a eleven team first division next season but all the other division sides will boycott Shamrock Rovers II games. What a shambles this is!

How about Limerick United also apply, then we could have a 12 team league !!!!!

I guess because O'Sullivan took the case to the High Court and found it was never ok to deny them the chance to apply.

Wasn't there a similar scene in 1984 or so, Pat Grace took over, who sponsored the league too, he formed Limerick City and there was a stand off with possibly Limerick United also then?

I remember Lim City changed to Norwich style colours from the traditional blue and white, decent side mid 80's, Liam Murphy springs to mind, what a player he was, Tommy Gaynor too, who would later join Dundalk, then Forest.

Whatever happens, I hope Limerick gets a team back in senior football soon.
