If the rules stay the same then presumably they wouldn’t return to Ireland until the 18th and then two weeks quarantine would mean they couldn’t come out until the 1st August. Don’t think they’d be able to train together as the quarantine rules say you’ve to stay in.
While that would be a great friendly to have, I’m not sure it would be worth it for Rovers with current rules.

I had a first look at Dundalk's new signing Colovic on the highlights of Dlk 11 v 11 full game on Friday, he looks more than decent. Showed real quality on the right, nice one two with Gannon to make the only goal, that's two very good options on right now with him and Daniel Kelly.

Some of his touches reminded me of Adjoran, the continentals usually have great first and quick touch.

Send the First Division team since nobody wants to play them anyway.

Do Rovers have to quarantine for 14 days after coming back? Like with the Irish contingent that went to UK/France at the weekend for racing.

How is that going to work with the European fixtures in August ?

How is that going to work with the European fixtures in August ?

It will be lifted before then, all the TDs be off on their holidays in August as the Dail is not sitting for the month (we know they need a holiday like)

I did read too, European clubs players would have to be tested before any games

Currently 1-1 in Oriel after another screamer from Flores to equalise. Good game and the stream holding up well, good quality, replays etc.

Like the gathering clouds of war, the reproductive rate of the virus has snuck back up to 1 (https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/0709/1152238-covid19-coronavirus-ireland/).

You wonder if - with pubs starting to open up and people starting to go out and about more - the league will manage to complete 13 games before another lockdown comes? Obviously hope that doesn't happen, but that'd surely be breaking point for some clubs? (And it could be any club)

Trying to work from home and watch the DFC v Derry game, looked a good match on the good bits I saw. Derry scored a decent goal to go 1 up, then in SB lingo, we 'battered them' to a 1-1 draw!!

Seemed to be constant Dundalk attacking but to be fair Derry held their shape well.

Useful workout, and another screamer from Flores. Very good stream quality too.

Dundalk leading the way as always.Commentary, replays,ht analysis.Really good stuff.Considering the stream was closed to only season tix/patreon there was almost 600 hitting it at one time.

As for the goals - Ganno totally and entirely culpable for Derrys goal, did he think he was still in training? He just stopped as Figueara closed in on goal Flores goal was top bins.Guy has a huge future if he can stay injury free.50/50 1st half but 80/20 2nd as Dundalk piled on the pressure.

The link was out there for loads of people. I was watching it for a while myself.

Plenty of people sharing the link in general, though I think they probably mailed out the link as late as possible for this reason. Always going to be an issue for any exclusive type streaming. Is there a way to generate links tied to members accounts? Otherwise any future plans for streaming to generate additional income may not be bothered with.

Still, for a midweek friendly in the early evening, to get above 600 viewers shows some potential.

I'm a ST holder but didn't get any link from the club, ended up getting it from elsewhere around 10 minutes before the game, so it was definitely out there.

Ideally you'd want a login area like Now TV where it's limited to 2 devices on your account but not sure how difficult that would be to do.

Anyway it was a club production and excellent quality. The FAI will be running the streaming for league games so hopefully it's as good.

I wouldn't call people pointing fishing out them taking the bait.

Strange dundalk are doing these test streams since there's a production company coming in to do it in the Premier. Unless Dundalk think they can do it cheaper/better.

Anyway a mix of our first and second teams beat Lucan 6 nill yesterday morning and Cliftonville 3 nil in the afternoon.
I believe our 17s beat Wayside Celtic too

It was an additional service as part of being a ST holder or signed up to the new membership so not really a test, and possibly just for the friendlies. I'm sure the club would be fine handing responsibility for streaming league game over to a production company unless it is costing significantly more than doing it inhouse or not of decent standard. Its set something of a bar as it should be a minimum expectation from any professional production company involved.

Even if it is a separate production company doing all the league games, there could potentially be home European games so I suppose it’s no harm testing your own streaming capabilities.

Don't think we have a choice in the matter, none of our own people will be involved for the league games apparently, but the bar has certainly been set. It will be very disappointing if the FAI production for all games is not as good.

Have the FAI tried streaming anything since the absolute farce that was the UCD-Limerick game a few years back, which was like flicking pages of a magic booklet?

I don't know what it is about Bohs and conceding penos.

Kris Twardek handling at/near/around the box for the first goal with Flores converting from the spot after less than 5 minutes

Currently 3-0 with about 60 mins gone

Having just watched the Bohs game a couple of things stand out. Sloggett is a real potential replacement for O'Donnell, he tidies things up nicely, simple ball to retain possession but also can split a defence with a pass, gets around the pitch and puts in a tackle in a general nuisance way. Oduwa is different from anything seen in league for a while, great feet, direct and runs at players, strong too but has a mercurial nature too where even his own teamates dont know what he is going to do. A bit Pat McCourt like in it could be spectacular stuff if motivated but could also drift out of games. Didnt see a whole lot of Gatt but is worth his place in the squad. It's probably the first time that McEleney isnt a major loss if out with Colovic more than capable of playing in that role as well as wide. We have options out wide now that can play as out and out wingers or be depolyed on opposite wings and cut inside. Its a real shame that the current circumstances have disrupted things as there is real potential and balance to this group and could have been well suited to mixing it up at home and in Europe.

Bohs looked a bit off the pace which is understandible but have a bit of time to work on things. There was enough on show that losing 4-1 wouldnt be an exception.

I see that that that mess to the rear of the Lilywhite Lounge has been barriered off from the terrace, another very very basic things that has been an issue and easily improved. So that and some painting and Oriel will be ship shape by 2090...

Such a pity this wasn't a league game for the coverage, as Jack Lynch scored for Galway, almost but not quite as good as Stephen Kenny coming on for a sub for Limerick in Oriel Park once, when even the other SK saw the funny side.

I thought the North were talking about flights being banned from the UK? Im seriously confused..

Also I saw Celtic play PSG in a friendly in Paris how they manage that considering the ban on flights at present for non essential travel?

A lot of talking has to take place before any actual decisions are made, especially if there is any of this All-Island malarkey involved (just ask Kieran Lucid about it...). There arent really bans in place, more travel advisories and hope that peoplle who do travel abroad do right thing upon return. In the mean time both RoI and UK borders on covid are only as strong as each others and we havent been able to follow up on 14 day self isolating protocols from non 'green listed' countries - what tourist is going to fly in and sit in a hotel for two weeks!? So based on just scale rather than the more lax attitude, there is damn all chance that the UK are managing to enforce self isolation protocols either! The only silver lining from a pandemic/hard brexit combo might just be a pragmatic decision in Belfast to think more island wide than a bridge to London. Which means that an 'Irish' bubble is at least an option if the virus keeps resurging.

A lot of the players live in Donegal and the entirety of the teams training to date has been done in the south staring at Aileach FC (Inch, Donegal) then Abbotstown so I am not sure how it works out.
