Player of the tournament for me has definitely been Collins - would love if the drogs bought him!!
Colin Hawkins has been great in the centre of defence.

Douglas, the right back from linfield must be in with a shout.
Stephen Paisley.Consistent even though longford went out and he contributed 2 goals.
Have to say ive never been convinced about Arkins but his hold up and link play have been outstanding throughout the tournament.Maybe not enough to get him in a 'Team of the Tournament'
Collins from Portadown, while a talented player is looks for confrontation to much.
Dave Rodgers from shels always looks solid.

You'd rather some hacker thug, than a talented, skillful and exciting player?
Stick with Drogheda so......

What the point in having a skillful and exciting player if he dos'nt influence the game.

3 players from a team that came bottom of their group?!
Watched most of the games - wasn't that impressed with Ferguson - I that Arkins hold up play and all round work rate was much better.
I have to say I'm surprised at how well the IL teams have done and it's good to see all the teams taking the tournament seriously.
I think the crowds could be much better next season and I think there will be a decent one tomorrow - there seems to be a bit of talk about it.

In fairness while undoubtabley he is an absolute thug and put in the dirtiest performance I've ever seen to not result in a red card in Tolka, it's harsh on him to say he isn't talented, skillfull and exciting. On top of being a thug he has got class, he has a good touch, is quick and powerful and can pass a ball as he showed against Cork setting up the goal. I would say that in the IL the opposition fans absolutley detest him and the Ports crowd adore him and it'd be the same at any club.
'You'd rather some hacker thug, than a talented, skillful and exciting player?'
I'd rather a bit of both to be honest. For me O' Callaghan isn't strong enough, pushed off the ball too easily and when the going gets tough (ie when you intimidate him a bit as Collins did in Portadown) he s**ts himself and doesn't get a kick of the ball - he's a bit of a girl if ye ask me
Btw thats a very harsh comment on Collins. I believe he has both - he's a real tough nut, not afraid to get stuck in and can play football
'I would say that in the IL the opposition fans absolutley detest him and the Ports crowd adore him and it'd be the same at any club.'
Drogs are still missing that type of player nad I would've loved if we had've signed him
Collins is known to his own fans as a hard man, he wants to be known as one and he quite openly made his intentions known that he was going to kick skillful players out of it.
He would fit right in at $hels, but I'm surprised to hear a Drogs fan calling for a player like him to be signed, and then to call O'Callaghan a girl....
You've seen him in a few games only, you don't really know just how tough he is. He is one of the hardest tacklers and workers on the City team, and just because a little scut like Nuttsy deliberately sends out his thugs like Rogers to injure a skilful player, doesn't mean he can't take it.
I rather watch a team of "girls" showing their skills and talents and playing football, than some scumbag who likes to kick people, and I'm pretty sure the majority of football fans would prefer to watch the same as I do. $hels "fans" excepted of course...

well for my opinion of the subject. linfield fans have a major problem with michael collins, due to him being a well known catholic and a devout celtic fan, but I for one would love to see him at windsor. i dont care what religion, colour, creed etc you are. if you play for the shirt and play with all you can then you deserve every accolade you get. micky has a very very very hot temper on him, but he is one (if not THE) most tallented footballing midfielders in the IL or EL. if he keeps his temper in check then he is a amazing. if not he looses it big big big time and has been known to rack up 10-14 game suspensions
but my team of the tourney has to be.

thought Mannus was the pick of the 'keepers. Agree with Bailie (deceptively good) and Michael Gault. Glens Gavin Melaugh deserves a mention.

mannus.. not really..he is a huge lump of a lad who should come out for balls as he would win them with his height and weight, but he continually stays on his line, and that was our downfall in games last season. Melaugh is a good player but not very consistent in displays. he will be good for 2-3 weeks but then he goes AWOL for the same if not double that same amount of time.
o'hara and the central defender of the ports (his name escapes me at the mo) deserve mentions aswell. and big vincent of arkins as always lead by example..

Melaugh looked ok on the 2 occasions I saw him. He was on trial with us last year, but obviously didn't impress Dolan enough to earn a contract

Hawkins was turned inside out and completely exposed on Saturday. Can we have him back NOT? :D

Yeah he's no Jimmy Aggrey :D :D
Sadly for Bohs, Hawkins has been outstanding this season. Try to deny it all you want, it's true.
