Shelbourne could become fully professional next season, becoming the first such club in the League, according to a report on a sports website today.
The report suggests that boss Dermot Keely will be afforded a three-year contract with the aim of getting Shels into the Champions' League - as long as they win the title this season.

"Dermot has a shopping list and knows who he wants – but he will only sign players who are prepared to go full-time," a club source told Cathal Dervan of Sports.com.

Keely will be given the financial backing to procure the players he needs in the summer by the club's board with the lofty aspiration of reaching the Champions' League group stages.

"The Shelbourne first team squad and their coaches will all be full-time next season," added the source.

"Dermot has been promised the money he needs to make that possible and he has been told only to sign players who are prepared to train and play on a full-time, professional basis.

"The club's directors are delighted with the progress made this season, but they know that the real money is to be made in the Champions League.

"There is no reason why Ireland can't follow the example set by the likes of Rosenberg in Norway. They are full-time and compete in the Champions League every season. Shels want to match that and they have drawn up the business plan now to get them there."

Well if Ollie C is on his shopping list then it looks like we will be watching ollie playing in the red of Shels next season! I couldn't see Ollie refusing the chance to play in the Champions league with a fully professional side.
