Heard Benson to Pats
It will be interesting to see if we can attract anyone from Dundalk, the budget will be a stumbling block.

Nothing official from the club but been rumoured for a couple of weeks. Apparently the rumour came from friends of his. Other 'rumours' are Casey back from Cork (to Bohs) and Paddy Kirk to Pats. Most of our first team have re-signed (Cornwall and Corcoran confirmed by the club last week).Baker and Swann to be released.
All to be taken with a large dollop of caution at this stage

surprised to see Conan Byrne who i rate released so quickly by Shels, he had injury troubles but i would have thought he was a premier player all day.
He cant go to Rovers or Pats as he works as a teacher in the day so Bohs , Bray or Cabo who train in the evening (afaik) might be options.
He said on his podcast he wasnt planning on retiring so one of those clubs is getting a good player, maybe Longford who train in Dublin (i think)

Think he decided to leave himself, wasn't getting enough game time and I believe Shelbourne are going an extra day training,Drogheda or Bray might be good enough options for him I think.

All the rumours around us at the moment are departures. Seems like SOD is going for a big overhaul of the squad with some surprises already such as Ciaran Kelly being let go. Interesting one anyway.

The Casey deal is one that both Casey and Bohs want to happen but the problem is he's under contract from Cork. That's where it stands at the minute. Bohs haven't met Cork's asking price and Fenn wants him for next year.
We've signed and paid a fee for Keith Buckley before, albeit nominally, so we could do it. It's still up in the air though atm.
If we sign you'd think it's a two year deal so we don't risk losing him for nothing.

McCormack would be an excellent signing.
Sheppard on the other hand not so good.

Sheppard has a back problem which although manageable has restricted him a great deal. Had a very poor season with us.
He might do a job in the 1st Div but that's about it.
McCormack on the other hand was outstanding for us although we had a season to forget.
Everyone would be sorry to see him go.
He could play with any side in the country.

We've been linked to him which is a strange one unless Clarke leaves because we have Brian Maher as our promising young keeper.

Both Gavin McLaughlin & James Rogers reporting that Greg Sloggett is set to be Dundalk first signing of the season. According to James he has agreed a deal but is on holidays so might not be unveiled until the week after next.

Was all agreed back during the summer
Sloggett is great on his day, but can sometime be a wee bit anonymous. Would certainly have been happy to keep him at the Brandywell though. I don't see how he's going to get much game time at Dundalk, but you could say that for half their squad, I suppose.

Reports suggesting there is a fee involved here? Hard to believe Bohs are paying transfer fees when their players are all playing for tips and the love of the game

He will likely become our CentreBack-in-residence so a small fee might be appropriate.

He will also take a lead role in our community based interpretative dance and Haiku graffiti initiatives.
Presumably he'll be paying the fee himself out of his arts council bursary and wages from his shifts in dayler bar.

Maybe under Kenny who rarely moved away from his first choice xi, but under Perth players have rotated a lot, example being the 4 centre halfs, and 3 of them Hoare/Cleary (prob first choice) then Gartland all played 20 + league games, Boyle who joined mid season also got plenty of games.
We need strengthening in central MF, I think Sloggett will work very well with Shields, and good things expected from Flores next year and hopefully same from Murray. Unsure if Benson will stay but either way I think P6 will approve another central MF, prob will be from outside the league. Better players needed for Europe.

That's a really odd one. Clarke is one of the best in the league for my money. Brian Maher is very highly rated I know, but still young. Barry Murphy neither highly rated, or young. Kearns, if we are gettin g him very young too. O'Donnell is certainly showing a lot of players the door, most of whom I'd have no issue with, a clear out was obviously needed. I'd certainly keep Clarke though. Hopefully the Benson rumours are true. Also hopefully, the rumour that Lee Desmond is on his way, isn't.

Excellent player technically but still work to do on the end product, in fairness maybe needs more game time than he will get at Tallaght. Would be a good signing.

Doubt that will happen. Probably still outside our pay rate and to be honest I think our priorities are elsewhere given the players we already have signed up.

Wouldn't mind him at Pats either. Himself and Benson would be nice.
From Derry City;
We will sign Sam Bone today or tomorrow (I know very little about him)
Conor McDermott will leave permanently very shortly, probably the next few days
Darren McCauley will go (intention is to go to Australia after Christmas , is not really that interested in playing full time football)
Barry McNamee may be leaving (head not in it, not enjoying football and hasn’t been since leaving Derry)
Junior coming back still a possibility. Parkhouse will not be barring a significant change there.

The lad is a very good player (I would love it if he was playing for Dundalk), but the Dublin media hype is obviously sucking many in.
Over €500,000 for a player who recently failed to impress at Kilmarnock and has gone through Blackburn Rovers, Wigan and Oldham between 2017 and 2018 - I just can't see it

With Grace being 27 in a few weeks its pretty much now or never for him to go across so unfortunatly can't see him turning down a move if he gets an offer.
Can't see Rovers accepting anything under 500k for Byrne until hes into his last year of his contract.

If Byrne does go for a significant fee then it shows merit to the business model being built at Rovers. That would be in the ballpark of €1.3m in a few seasons. Signing back players rejected in England, offer decent contracts, and get them enjoying football and show why they moved in the fist place is a worthwhile gamble. If only we had been able to get Towell, Horgan and Boyle on longer contracts with a few sell-on clauses in the way we managed to get Duffy and Gannon to do it would have softened their loss. Down side is of course losing high calibre players from the league and for Rovers to lose Byrne would be a kick in the teeth considering the teams development and momentum building for next season.
So far, players rumoured to be on the way out of Oriel dont fall in to the irreplacable category. Maybe a fit and interested Benson is a significant loss and not giving Dummigan a go at left back to see how he manages there could be a mistake.
