Welcome piece of silverware for Wexford in Ferrycarrig tonight as the home side defeated their local rivals from the Carlow-Kilkenny League in a very enjoyable U15 Shield Final by two goals to nil. In fact, the Carlow-Kilkenny League created probably the better chances but couldn’t get the ball in the Wexford net. Wexford were two goals ahead by half-time through Mikey Raggett and a deflected shot by Conor Carew. Carlow-Kilkenny applied a lot of pressure in the second half but were unable to score. When Carlow-Kilkenny did get the ball in the Wexford net about mid-way through the second half, the goal was ruled out for an earlier infringement. Best for Wexford was lively winger, Sean Fitzpatrick, while Jack Byrne was very impressive in the midfield for Carlow-Kilkenny. One of the Carlow-Kilkenny players was stretchered off just before the end so hopefully the injury is not too serious. Almost 400 at the game.

Result from today: Wexford FC 2, Shelbourne FC 3. Free-flowing game between two evenly matched sides. Impressive for Wexford, in particular, were Charlie Conway and Ryan Wycherley. For Shelbourne, their captain who played left full looked very handy.
