Fenlon pays Baker tribute

Shelbourne manager Pat Fenlon has hailed star winger Richie Baker for finding greater maturity during his year-long break from eircom League football.

Baker spent last season in the United States with Major League Soccer side New England Revolution.

He returned to Dublin to re-sign for Shels before Christmas, and hit the ground running at the start of the season.

Not so sure about the greater maturity bit - his sending off didn't show much evidence of that.Nor in his reaction to Hawkins sending-off.
What he has is more, or rather the old, confidence, taking people on, getting into the box, etc, which had all but disappeared save for his last few games prior to going to America.

Richey's by far the best player of Shels and the EL so far. THERE'S ONLY ONE RICHEY BAKER :ball:

Very nice lad as well, very friendly and willing to socialise with fans.

Ah come off it, best player for Shels and the EL? There's debate on Shelsweb about if he should even start! He's gotten a few goals but that doesn't make him the best or anything close to it.

There is no debate on Shelsweb if Baker should start or not ...

Some people dont like him and there is not much that can be done about that. A large number of shels fans agree he has been great since his return.
We are top of the table unbeaten and he is our top scorer. These things are usually choosen from stats such as these. Baker deserves the award for prven people wrong whe they wrote him off after resigning. All talk about Hawkins Ryan and Crowe but so far Baker has stood up to them all..
