Friday's eircom League previews


Friday night is a packed night of eircom League action with seven games set to be played. It's top against bottom in the premier division as Shelbourne also defend the only unbeaten record in the top flight. Cork and Derry will be looking to cut the defending champions' lead while clubs like Bohs. The first division heads towards the quarter mark and after this weekend there will be a clear picture of the promotion race.

Friday previews

Cork City v St Patrick’s Athletic, Turner’s Cross (Kick off 7:45)

Cork City take on St Patrick’s Athletic on Friday night attempting to put the disappointment of their loss to Shelbourne in the Setanta Cup behind them. What was upsetting was not the fact that they lost but that they should have lost to a goal that most people suggested should not have been allowed. The question was: had the ball crossed the goal line?

Manager Damien Richardson summed up his feelings: "Nothing we can do about it now. The decision is in the record books and the three points have gone to Shels so for me to go on about it would be cranky and cantankerous and to no avail. You have got to accept mistakes will be made in football."
