Massive game this friday,if we loose cobh go nine points clear of us and that's alot of ground to make up.On the positive side a win would put us only 3 points behind the rams who currently are only one point off the top of the league and considering our indifferent start,to put it kindly, that wouldn't be to bad.I can't see them been as bad as they were in limerick but cobh are on form so i really haven't a clue how it's going to go.
Team:
1 Gough
2 Curran
3 Williamson
4 Frawley
5 Keady
6 Fortune
7 Harty
8 Russell
9 O Dowd
10 Moran
11 O Brien
SUBS:Kelly,Goldbey,O Reilly,Cleary,(not sure)

Yeah, its an important match and I have a funny feeling we will win too but then what happens the following week? we lose!! and the the week after that? maybe get a draw. Absolutely no consistancy at all because, to put it simply, we just dont have the players. and do the board care? sure we are a MASSIVE club off the pitch!
for the next 5 or 6 games as there has been too much chopping and changing in the games so far and players need to be in a settled side.

Maybe O'Reilly could start in central midfield as neither Russell or Mixy have played anywhere near their best this season.
I'd go along with that team :o

Haven't exactly been to many games this season but from what I've seen/know of the players and the problems how about going 4-5-1?
O'Dowd has never been exactly prolific for either United or Rovers so why not put Barry up front on his own - O'Brien and Williamson look useful wingers and then there would be 3 midfielders (thus covering Colin's lack of pace!)
Could be worth a go - but will be useless if we just start hoofing long balls up to Barry.

better off playing only one striker when we don't have two of sufficent quality. Plus O'Dowd gives away too many stupid and needless free kicks putting us under pressure and making it very easy for our opponents. Russell seems to play best when he is free to move around a bit.
Vs Cobh
Gough
Curran Keady Frawley Szymanski
O’Brien Russell O’Reilly Fortune Williamson
Moran
If Conor Frawley or Billy are fit one or both need to come into back four. No presence there, pushed around too easy.
Preferred eleven would be
Gough
Curran Clery C.Frawley Szymanski
O’Brien Russell O’Reilly Fortune Williamson
Moran
Any word on Michael Lindsay? is he making any kind of impression? worth a place on the bench?
Symanski is gone back to Poland, for how long nobody knows

.. is still in Galway, I think. Heard that he was gone back to Poland as well, but saw him up at Drum last week.
Lindsay, apparently, is so poor that he cannot be even risked on the bench.
he has obviously returned back so, as it was over 2 weeks ago since I was told he went home.

Ryan Casey could feature in the United squad after recovering from a ligament injury.
This will be United's last game in the first series of league fixtures.

Stephen Lally was an interested observer in Athenry for the big game versus Hibs last night where Jonny Mernagh scored 2 the second an absolute cracker. Id say he will be out on Sunday again when Athenry & Mervue do battle for the Premier Title.

Good luck against Cobh tonight, hopefully ye can get the 3 points and start moving up the table where ye belong. Ye have a very good team/squad and Im sure things will come good by the end of the season.
Great to see Derek is back from injury, sad to see Herrick retire the way he did, however the team must move on and tonights game is a big one!
United haven't started playing yet so hopefully the season starts tonight

..I do feel we should have and easily could have taken all 3 points if a certain player who ill leave nameless could finish 2 chances that were harder to miss than score. It's not the 1st time that he's let us down but you can't blame it all on him. Were now 10 and 9 points behind the teams occupying 1st and 2nd place and unless we take 9 pts out of the next 3 games(monaghan,Athlone and kilkenny) it's season over.

Yes, because your defence didn't give away soft goals like ours and we didn't take all the chances that we created, if we did we would have won 4-3.

Soft goals is an understatement. We spent the night trying to play nice football except that we didn't have the ability to sustain it and gave the ball away too often too cheaply. The first three goals were flukes, but the second United goal and the third Cobh goal were crackers.
But shame Goldbey didn't take that chance just before the Cobh winner ... if he had the result probably would have gone the other way.
But there is no point in playing pretty football every week if we are going to get beaten every week. Next week's game will be crucial for confidence. If we don't win we will be re-election candidates. I don't see the team challenging for promotion.
Lally is talking about signing players in the transfer window in July. If the results keep going the way they are that will be too late.
As Ronan said to me at half-time - there was a time when we were struggling in the lower reaches of the table - but at least that was the lower reaches of the Premier Division.

Keep the heads up.....a couple of good results and ye will be back in it....sounds like your playing good football anyway....could be worse...you could be playing c**p and in the lower half...
