It's official now, anyway:

BANNED TREZEGUET TO MISS IRISH GAME
French striker David Trezeguet has been
banned for two matches by FIFA for
headbutting an opponent during last
month's 1-1 draw against Israel in a
World Cup qualifier.

'That is the minimum for a player
hitting another player,' said a
spokesman for the French football
federation.

Trezeguet will miss France's Group 4
qualifiers against the Faroe Islands on
September 3 and in Ireland on September
7.

He will return for games with Cyprus
and Switzerland in October.

Over the moon when I heard it. :)

Hopefully they'll have to play Wilturd up front. :D

I'm scared of Wiltord too..

But I'm really scared of that killer-istinct of Trezeguet, when he's inside penalty area, so I think it's a good thing for us ;)

Don't think thats really good news...having seen him play quite badly for France and with a lack of commitment that seemed to spread through certain players including him to the rest of the team during matches. Still any player that they cannot play for what ever reason is a good thing. I'd actually be more worried about Wiltord at the mo than Cisse!

"The Juventus striker was yesterday suspended after being found guilty of head-butting Israel defender Tal Ben Haim during France's 1-1 draw with Israel in Tel Aviv."

From what I saw of that incident there was still some fresh air between the heads of Trezeguet and Tal Ben. Trezeguet could regard himself rather unfortunate that his head came within a few inches of the acrobatic drama queen himself.
Considering that Tal Ben has a well documented history of histrionics I can't understand how Trezeguet can be found guilty of headbutting on the evidence. At most he faked an attempt to retaliate.
In rugby it is regarded as a lesser crime to retaliate, the provocation is more serious.
