16/17 players I reckon, no more or less than any other team, but some high quality players who are sitting on the bench every now and again. Add in that you'll always have one or two away or working on a given weekend your chances will always come if you can afford to be patient.

ya rockmount have very good players on the bench i was out at there intermediate cup game against blueblue (coldest day ever even 4 rockmount park) and on the bench that day was jammer the 2 deasy's,steph, yelley and phillp c and darren doyle was not even a sub how's billy going 2 keep all them happy

As I said above there is rarely a week when you have all of them fit/not working/not on a stag or hen night (in Ken Hoey's case) etc etc..that was the first day everyone was available. Decent bench indeed!

ha ha on the hen night, ya it's true that there's not a weekend goes by when there's not one player missing, but thats still a very strong bench with very good players, i hope they don't have the ego's to match though as they won't stay around for long!

The only difference is that rockmount have players on the bench who would walk in to any other msl prem team,so to have a few out injured or working never seriously damages them like the rest of the teams in the division, most are probably just scrapping a team and a couple of subs come january.

Hello all.New member on board. Any contenders to challenge rockmounts thrown this year. Dahall eventually get a good start to a season. Will they keep it up? Dale off to a stinker, are they out of it? Any other contenders in the new boys passage/cobh?

D.Hall look the most likely contenders and if i was a betting man i'd throw a couple of pound on them now,as for the new kids on the block they're priority would be to stay up this year and try and challenge in the next couple of seasons

I certainly fancy Douglas hall to win either the league or Intermediate. They look quite solid this year.

Clifford
19/12/2007, 2:57 PM
Hall's win away to Dale makes them serious contenders - they have been flirting around both competitions over the last three years without making a real run at either one. Remains to be seen if they will produce this year. Mark O Sullivan going back to Avondale was a big loss, don't know who is playing well for them at the moment or getting their goals, anyone know?

They have been doing very well beating the likes of cobh and narrowly losing out to limrick in the FAI senior cup so if they can compete against them why not in the league? Hinting that my team is dahall and been a previous player I wouldn't be surprised if a major trophy will be on their way soon. Gerard o Donavan and Decky o Connell seem to be the players banging them in but plenty goals coming from other areas of the pitch.

rockmount nearly always get the result though, no matter how u think they play! they have been there and done it! it would be good for the league though if there was a few more teams to challange them! played against d hall this year and was impressed alright with them and they will be there or there abouts but not sure will they win the league this year!

Seasons greetings to all. Agree with most of the above, a close race would be good for the league, but obviously then Mount to win it on the last day of the season would be nice.....after collecting the Intermediate cup the week before!! One can dream, it is Chrimbo after all....have a good one everybody.

Rockmount 4-0 Passage

After a long break for Christmas the Champions got the new year off to a flyer this morning. Jammer, Robbie Deasy and a Michael Deasy brace were the goalscorers. Mount comfortable all game long, even could afford to miss two spotters.

Any truth that Avondale objected against Carrigaline after their loss? Carrig played a youth player who was signed only 24 hours before the game.
That should move Avondale back up the table.

I heard something about this too, Avondale were awarded the 3 points, is that correct?

If the player was ineligible then the Carrigaline management have only themselves to blame...they took the chance by playing him and were caught out - can't argue with that.

On the other hand it is harsh on the Carrigaline players, unless the lad bagged a hat-trick or something it's unlikely that the result would've been different, but that's only speculation now anyway.

Either way it's funny to see the Dale propping up the table on the MSL site!

Footballer

Personally I think it's harsh as the player was only a youth player and was signed prior to the game but it didn't get received by the league in Time. I'm not sure abt the facts to be honest but it's sounds a bit messy to me
Originally the league took the 3 points off Carrig but didn't give these to Avondale and then when Avondale objected again they were awarded the 3pts.
It's sounds like sour grapes to me as an Avondale fella said to me they were just beaten by the better team on the day
A fair thing maybe to replay the game?

Are ye sure that carrigaline lost the three points lads on the msl website they have seven played with three wins and four defeats the wins are in no particular order wanderers, everton and avondale,if they have been docked points it would put them right down the league with avondale jumping ahead of them after being awarded the three points, and if the player was ineligible shoudnt that carry a heavier punishment than awarding three points to the opposition?

I haven't heard of anything like this in a long time. Points should be won on the pitch.

and apparently the guy only came on as a sub with the score already 3-1 to carrig, this is truely bizzare but i do suppose avondale need the points at the minute (something i never thought i would ever say)!

I assume that the leauge table has not been amended because the matter is under appeal by Carrigaline.

However, whether the lad came on for 30 seconds or played the entire game and scored ten goals he is still ineligible and I cannot see how Avondale can not be awarded the points.

i agree totally with you on this one he wasn't able to play so he shouldnt have been on the bench not alone on the pitch if thats the case none of us need to sign for our clubs,

That is a fair point.

I find it hard to believe though a club would take that chance being 3-1 up. I'm at the understanding that Carrigaline actually thought he was not illegal as he was signed but not within the time frame.
I think a player cannot be signed 48 hours before a game. That's not a fact
Does someone known the exact rules?

Not sure about that one i think the majority of clubs and i could be very wrong here assume once the player has signed and the form is in the post then he is eligible to play,we could do with the msl commitee coming out to verify the rule and also let other clubs know if they plain to dock points off carrigaline

Depends who your hearing it off I suppose. You can take any player missing a game as genuine or not, be it a hamstring tweak or work committments they use. He missed a bit of the early season games, but seeing as we didn't play a league game til almost December there was no issue really - obviously I'm nothing to do with the club in the slightest so that's only my personal take on it. Players like him don't come along too often at this level so a bit of give and take goes down well.

Senior team in div 1 of the senior league. Played 9, 9 points gained. Doesn't look good really. Are your side playing them or just out of interest?

They have some very pacy forwards, but can't supply them in any way at all. Dogged, but lacking basic tactical nous would sum them up.

Well we may face them in the next round of the MJC (if we win this weekend).

Is Div1 below the Prem? Or is it the top league?

If it's MJC then I presume it would be their second team you'd be playing, in which case I'd imagine they're poor. They play in the MSL Junior 1st division, which is as low as you can get in MSL.

Their senior team don't play in the Munster Junior Cup. You should be looking at their junior team. They play in the Junior section of the MSL and not even in the top div at that. They are 7th of 14 teams in the Junior 1st div at the moment. Check out www.munsterseniorleague.ie Very average side!

Right - enough of that ridiculous stuff.

Rockmount vs Avondale, Rockmount Park - Sunday 10.45am. What a clash this should be between, in reality, the two best Intermediate teams in the country for the last 5 years. Always a clash to relish, always an intense battle where no quarter is asked or given. Form goes out the window (if the weather/fixtures had indeed ever allowed either team to establish some form), bring on the clash of the Titans....

Sound like Sky spurts news, ha ha.
