Fermoy 1-3 St. Mary's

On a smashing pitch on a lovely night for football only one team showed up to the play off to see who stayed up. 3-1 was the scoreline, it could have been so much more. It could have been so much more on the night. Relegation for us back to an incredibly competitive division one. How we would have loved to stay in the top flight but despite battling against the odds for a while we couldn't come up with one more result to see us stay up.

Beaten on the night in all departments the Mary's lads brought all their experience to the party and comprehensively stayed up. Congrats to Ken and the lads, its been amazing to have the chance to fight with these lads all season and we'd hope to get straight back up to the top flight if we can galvanise the troops for next season.

Hard luck Clifford, you're a credit to the club and the league. Good luck next season and hope ye come back up again right away.

Avondale beat Corinthians 5-1 tonight to finish their league campaign.

Mary's 0-1 Rockmount in the O'Connell Cup semi this afternoon, a deflected shot just after half time settled it.

Avondale so far ahead it's frightening. On another note Midleton will do well to hold onto half their team with the O'Rourke's having crossed the devide from Springfield to Cobh Wanderers.

Trying to get players to travel down to crosshaven will be hard it'll be the same as bandon trying to attract players from the city no one wants to travel to play ball anymore.

Just my opinion

Now there's a club clutching at straws!! For the last 4 years they've been making big pre season announcements and they have a shocking season.

Hey you can't knock a club for trying. Bobby was there before & has a super reputation with man management. If anyone can get the Crosshaven lads to finally pull together it will be him. It's great to see him back on his feet & back in football. Whatever about Crosshaven, this is great for the profile of the entire league. I'll be watching them with interest.

Don't think your right there - I know a few lads in & around that squad and all are thrilled with Bobbys appointment. No doubt anyone that Greg brought to Crosshaven will follow him to Carrigaline but I think you'll find players from Crosshaven reluctant to go there.

With all due respect...an avondale player (Marky sull) should have got senior player of the year and secondly Deccie is a top senior player playing junior!

Strange one, be interested to know how it's voted upon.

I know it's not predominantly about goals but Ian Stapleton has hit 33 this season, Marky has 20.

Maybe votes were split across multiple Dale players.

How an Avondale Utd player hasn't recieved this award is an absolute disgrace, The leauge manager's should be ashamed of themselves, No offense to andrew who is a fabalous footballer he doesnt deserve this award, As for decie the lad has played junior for the past 2 years so whats the issue , he can't train hence fact he isn,t playing senior. After all is playing senior all its craiced up to be with Avondale loseing to Sheriff at the weekend

If sheriff were in the munster senior league they would be a close second,i dont really class them as a junior side, the same with a couple of clubs from limerick, these are senior teams playing junior!!!

Can you imagine if u were stapelton? Scored 33 goals. Won the intermediate cup .league and few more cups.and not getting player of the year? How do the league pick it does somebody no? No disrespect to the ucc lad but it should of been an avondale player this year especially with the record they have thisyear

Yes I agree with chubbs as player of the year, watched him with Midleton last year was better than any player on the pitch I watched, was talking to a few Avondale lads said he has made a massive difference to there team this year.also on the Deccie o Connell award, how can the league give a ex junior international this award, should be a stipulation here(similar to any player that played league if Ireland can't be a junior international),surely there is a Douglas player/or maybe another team that is of junior standard that is up and coming would appreciate this award,Deccie is one of the best senior players in Msl never mind the junior division.on the voting it's every club gets one vote in each division for the league standout, but the senior award looks very fishy????

I have no question about the junior player of the year as you said redandwhite he was the best player in that league and deserves to be junior player of the year because that is the level he playing at the moment. Everyone knows he was one of the best senior players not so long ago .Still abit shocked how stapelton has not got it. Brilliant everytime i seen him. A matter of opinion i suposse.

stupid point, if an avondale player should get the award because he was the best player in the league over the course of the season (which i fully agree with) then you cant say that deccie oconnell shouldnt get the mjl award. was he the best player in the league over the season? did he win trophies?

Never said he wasn't the best player during the season, just saying chubbs could have won the senior award playing at the level he should be playing, just don't see the point in giving a ex junior international player of the year in a junior division(4 div below what he should be playing),when the player in question is 100% still a top level senior player, would it not bode to see a season campaigner playing junior most years getting recognition for being the best player in the calender year, which I'm sure there is in Douglas.just a opinion lads.chubbs will be a massive loss,no player else where in the league to fill the void of his quality.

Well just found out there he's in charge of the fas team tht play nd train in carriage line bud
Ya the manager in question runs the fas course with Stuart Aston In Carrigaline, there is no problem having an amateur team while working for the Fai but you can not have a paid job in the leauge of Ireland, hence why Alan renolds can't "officially" take the Waterford job. But there is no reason why Niall couldn't take over another Msl team ie Avondale.

Friar Tuck
13/06/2013, 9:05 PM
they scrapped that plan after being dismantled by a poor waterford side last night
Come on El Niño dismantled is harsh I can't believe everyone on about Avondale losing two games in all fairness what they have done for football in cork has been unbelievable and typical cork then the first chance we get we put them down its a disgrace ! Some people just couldn't wait to see them lose

Imagine the sense of pride you would feel getting a poor Bandon Side a number of years ago promoted to the Premier Division of the MSL, and then you resign!!! Makes no sense what so ever. You would imagine if he wanted to prove himself he would have taken the challange of keeping Bandon in the Premier division head on , not resign!!!

As usual no clue what's going on in real life on here. As a member of the Fas fai program his contract does not let him manage an amateur club. Conflict of interest. He can do pro or semi pro. He got permission to finish out the season the season with bandon.
