Sligo will not face action - confirmed


The eircom League have this evening confirmed that no action will be taken against Sligo Rovers over the registration of Sean Flannery.
The statement reads : "The eircom League Board of Control at its meeting last night (27th April) considered the matter of the registration of Sean Flannery with Sligo Rovers. The Board is satisfied that the player is a properly registered player with Sligo Rovers FC."

Sligo report no points deduction


The official Sligo Rovers website is reporting that the club have been given word of the outcome of tonight's meeting. The news is good as far as Rovers are concerned, with no points deduction implemented.
The eircom League board of control were meeting to decide if there was a problem with Sean Flannery's registration or not. Reports suggested that Flannery should not have been allowed to register for Sligo after signing for a local club and he subsequently played two league games, leaving the possibility of six points being deducted.
