current status:

4 light fixtures have been moved to the cross
3 poles remain lying on the ground and separated into sections in bishopstown - i assume the fourth one has made the journey to the cross
alot of electrical work seems to have been done at the cross, ie fresh conrete and tarmac is evident, where cables have presumably been laid.
not much else to report at the moment, will see what i can do

James

it would appear that two of the pilons have been removed from Bishopstown, so anyone making the MSC semi-final against Cobh Wanderers on Sunday morning (11.00 am) at the Cross might be in for a surprise :)

Well Done!

joe

Three pilons are not standing erect at the Cross as can be seen from the latest pics (http://www.joehurley.net/fl).

Pablo
10/03/2002, 1:10 PM
Good man Joe! Keeping us all up to dat!

Yep. A pylon in each corner, although the pylon by the old dressingrooms is nearer the Donie Forde Stand. Should look good for the U-21 game though.

Joe my man, meter off the grass, you will get a better, more balanced exposure.

Would I be right in thinking that Joe is using a digital point and shoot. Metering isn't really a feature with the standard models.
The pictures show the progress at the cross and that's the main thing.

they could well be a few feet shorter - it looked like there was the 'tops of the pilons' lying around. as to whether they'll be put up or not when the lights themselves go up ???

i had one obscure shot ready to go in alright, but i thought it would be taking things a bit far - especially with so many real (:D) photographers on here :p

Cork City will soon see evening kick-offs at Turners Cross as the venue is finally having it's floodlights installed and they will be used for the first time on March 26th.

However, it will not be the Leesiders who will have the honour of being the first side to see them operational as the FAI have nominated the ground for Don Givens' Republic of Ireland under 21's game against Denmark on Tuesday week with a 7:30 pm start.

Givens will hold a press conference in the Rochestown Park Hotel tomorrow, March 14th at 12 noon at which he will name his squad for the tie against the Danes.

This will be the first game for the Under 21's since the 3-0 win over Cyprus at Flancare Park, Longford last October.

Cork City and Colin P O'Brien will be hoping that the youngster will included in the sqiuad and more importantly represent his city and country in the game itself.

Well considering CP couldn't make the u-19 squad I'd say fairly unlikely he would make the u-21 squad. IMO hes not good enough for the u-21s anyway & he'll probably just be invited to "train" with the u-21s.

nonsense. The installation of the floodlights was done with the same magnificent foresight and forward planning as every other thing our wonderful board does
