Doesn’t make sense participating in this the calendar doesn’t match up.

If you have a core of full time 12 month contracted senior players ( which is where Bohs may be heading to) and a solid bunch of under 19`s with European experience, the calendar won`t be a problem. As long as it doesn`t rain, snow and isn`t windy , we should be fine.

Didn’t know Bohs we’re heading that way, in that scenario participation makes sense.

Some of the younger talent like Mandroiu are contracted until the end of the 2020 season.I would think that the likes of Talbot Levingson, Finnerty Grant, Mc Court,Leahy ,Kirk, Lyons , maybe Wade Slater, would be the rest of the core full time prospects.
Bohs must be in a financially healthier position than budgeted for the season.Made a decent operating profit last year and must be making at least 8k more per home match in gate receipts and ancilliary sales than last season. So the money should be there , and the board seem to be strategic enough in how they spend it.

Board policy is to use any additional resources to sign players for next season but not necessarily on 52 week contracts.
Reality is that unless dates are changed for Qtr final and semi final (should they get that far) the same problems as last season arise. Presumably the FAI/SFA have sorted any potential issues out to avoid the debacle we had last year.

Yep. Saw somewhere that Waterford also signed up. I believe Irish teams cannot draw each other in first round but could meet if they get through.

Rumours say Waterford are the other team invited but nothing confirmed from club yet. I presume the FAI won't change their mind on our eligibility for it this time. Is there much money to be made or is it likely to cost more money to take part?

You probably qualify as one of the English owned non league teams

Fortunately for Waterford, it's not a UEFA competition, so there's no danger of UEFA not letting ye in.

Not much to be made but little travel involved so no losses either. It’s the Scottish League Cup so UEFA restrictions don’t apply. 2 highest placed non European qualifiers are invited. Thought I read that Waterford were confirmed but can’t recall where.

Don’t think there is any major cash involved. Afaik your expenses get covered for travel & accommodation.

Need to change the thread title! It's now the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup. Which must surely be one of the worst names for a competition ever.

And Waterford will be taking part.

We need an 'Untie the Union' Cup. Otherwise known as the Brexit trophy.

Going blind into a competition without knowing when it will be played, whether you will have players signed to play in it? Brexit Trophy sounds about right!

Except for the commitments from both FAI and SFA the club got on fixtures (it appears the SFA forgot to tell the Scottish clubs).
The farce happened because of a frozen pitch at Dalymount. East Fife refusing two alternative pitches and using the postponement to try and get the rescheduled match in Scotland.

Not even hipsters foresaw that scenario 😁

What takes preference, LOI games or Scottish Cup?

If Bohs and or Waterford were to get through in the upcoming round 2 FAI Cup, the Tunnocks Cup games clashes with the 1/4 finals of FAI Cup.

Clubs will hardly be expected to play Friday and Sunday?

Presume FAI Cup would take precedent but with fixtures FAI and SFA in the mix God knows 😁

If this report is anything to go by, Scottish football lost nothing during their brief extinction.

Good win for a mainly young Waterford team last night. Only 5 first team players started as Alan Reynolds of course is giving priority to Monday night's game v Dundalk. 2 late goals from younger players Alex Phelan with a great finish and then Reggie Madika with help of a deflection decided the game. About 700 there and we look forward to the draw on Tuesday. A lot of fans are hoping for an away trip.

Cue the the European trip comments! Surprised at the Bohs result. It was Waterford that was expected to go out. What were the Hearts Colts like, any real quality if a reserve Warterford side beat them? Very tough run of games for Dundalk, I think Perth said last night it is 17 in 48 days so Waterford in with a shout for having somthing of a rest. O'Connor and to a lesser extent Poynton might be out to prove a point. Injuries in midfield still meaning plenty chopping and changing and disrupting things. It's remarkable the run that we've been on connsidering the schedule and injuries. McGrath a doubt after last night on top of the 4 others so Hoare likely to feature in midfield. Not the worst time for Waterford to get us in a cup 1/4 final. A good crowd in the RSC and it wont be easy! Excuses in early ;)
