i see Derry are holding out for 150,000 for excellant young defender Darren Kelly from Carsisle..from JW's news section

Darren Kelly will join Carlisle United in the summer, according to a report in today's Irish Sun.
The 22-year-old has been a target of United boss Roddy Collins all season and he made a £100,000 sterling bid for the defender earlier in the season, which was rejected by Derry.

Kelly, a Northern Ireland under-21 international, is under contract at Brandywell until April 2005 but Carlisle later upped the bid cheekily by £1,000 - which Derry again rejected.

However, the player said: "All I want is the chance to play full-time football in England. I would be happy to go to Carlisle because I know people there, which would make it easier for me. I want to get away."

The Ulster club is holding out for £150,000 and if Carlisle agree to pay that fee Derry will use it to boost their squad in the summer.

fair play derry for not backing down..but what Cork City player has ever been on such a long term contract.. if ever.it always seems they give out 1 year or 2 year contracts and at the end of every year we have to worry about losing our quality or upcoming players for a pittance..

Well done Derry
