I'm not at all happy with the labelling and speculation that was going on in that thread, particularly in the abscence of a conviction. Presented evidence may prove guilt in some poster's eyes, but even aside from the fact that those posters probably have a very limited subset of that evidence available to them, their presumption of guilt or non-guilt means nothing, and could even be considered prejudicial to the case itself. The media isn't allowed to speculate or assign guilt for a reason, and I agree strongly with those reasons; there has to be a line in the sand. Foot.ie isn't "the media", but it is a public forum, and I believe people need to act responsibly in public forums.

I honestly believe that this kind of commentary could result in harm to either me or Foot.ie as a whole, therefore I've deleted the thread, at least until the court case has come to a conclusion (it can be recovered if necessary). I don't want to see any more threads on this issue, and for the record, I don't want to see this kind of speculative and judgemental discussion happening on Foot.ie again. It's now officially against the rules, and I'll update them as soon as I get time to sit down and phrase it properly.
